will have a removable port. 35 daily with port in. Open port at 50 htz. Subs should be in tomorrow afternoon. Once they get here I'll have the faceplate designed and cut out. and once all that is in I'll get some vids up. Will be at about half output for a few weeks until the subs are broken in. Cheap subs so i don't wanna blow them right off the bat!

hey for the money I had made off the xxx 15. and my medical bills it was going to be one thing or another. and for half the price for 3 15's I got 6 12's. Id rather power 6 12's on 80% of the power they all need than 3 15's on 60% of the power.

look what came in the mail today XD

problem is one of the subs is screwed up. It is dented and won't mount correctly and on the back of the sub the plastic magnet cover was cracked.... so sigh. I won't have it in till they get this taken care of.

Annnarbor84

Yep those subs have some cheap **** on them, gotta watch out or you can break things on them. Also when you go to mount them, just snug them down, because if you over tighten them. They will get dented up like the one you are returning, and it will actually pinch the surround....

Put about 400 rms to each lol. JK JK JK but seriously for 15 bucks for 20 its cheap and I'll use them some where or just let them collect dust or sell them locally to ppl

as for the subs being muddy. honestly in a truck like mine everything is muddy. because if its as close to you as mine is. everything is just annoyingly loud. because the port will either unload at the roof that will channel it at your head, or it unloads at the headrest. so if you think about it... I cant say i've ever heard someones port not be muddy.

yeah it looks like your port is gonna be suffering from airflow being that close to the loading wall, it should be a minumum of the smallest number in measurment of the port opening. so if its 6 x 10 it should be a minumum of 6inches at min from the bottom of the box to the beginning of the port opening.

Its got enough low end that it works just fine with gain settings down low. but yeah. Can someone give me the depth of ports that I would need. I cant figure it out lol. I need the depth figure for my port to re-tune if I want to later down the road. the port like I said is 18x6 and I want to know what size depth I would need to make that tuned to 38 40 and 45 htz. the airspace is currently 8.124 cubes. looking for those port tunings. I can get additional port depth in there by doing a 90 in there.

Annnarbor84

When you meter, just turn the stereo up loud enough to see what you peak at. You find this out by doing a sine sweep. Once you find what you peak at, use that tone whatever it maybe 40hz, 42hz, or whatever. Then meter with that. When you turn your **** up all the way and do a sine sweep, you will have wasted so much of your electrical before you even get to your peak area..... So you only turn it up loud enough for the term lab to pick it up.

so I am going to add a little depth to the box. Give it a little more airspace. should see about 10 to 11 cubes. and Should I do a port completely across the top? or just go a little larger. or wider really. Can't do much larger than 6 inches high. but I could do up to 30 inches wide. giving me around 180 sq inches of port... Just wondering if doing a larger port will give me any better increase id dbs...?

Port on driver side would probably meter better if you could do it. My wall had the port up top, it was 196sq in.

16cubes per foot of box airspace so you said 11 or 12 cubes in the box? multiply that by 16 and make the mouth of the port that big.

as for the length of the port you can make it into a "L" port and it will be fine since the box is so shallow.

but just remember that those are entry level subs and wont take much if the box is wrong.
