It all depends on the vehicle man...

I had the same question as OP. What if it were an Expedition (SUV)?

Subs up tends to be a good starting point with SUV's. If you really want to tune it well you can try more firing positions.

ive had several boxes in my trunk and rear firing sounds the best.

ive had subs up port back, subs back port back and subs and ports firing into the cabin. Forward firing is loudest but rear sounds the best and the lows hit a little harder.

So, sub up port back? My box is going to be about 3 feet away from my rear hatch.

Whats so wrong with having it the way I do? A lot of people told me it was best to have them facing forward and port firing to the back of the drivers seat..:crap:

EDIT: and plus..it doesnt rattle my trunk as bad.

so, maybe subs forward port back? even though i dont have much air space behind the box and seat?

My car is kinda like a hatch. Sub up port forward has been best for me so far. Sub forward port forward isn't as loud and sub and port back just rattles way too much. The only way to know is try and find out yourself.

I dont have the kind of money to try all those kind of variations..I would try subs forward port back but id have to build another box and I dont have the money for tha right now..and I dont think subs up port forward would be a good idea either.

wall it!

Me?
see the problem here is that im putting in two 15's
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c350/tippmann_guy/1310360012_large1.jpg
and with the way the trunk arms close they take up alot of room! with the two 15"s id either have the subs upfiring or subs facing forward and port on the back of side

oh, and the trunk arms changes position as it closes, so its hard to calculate exactly.

p.s. not my car here, some random google image

so whenever I get my new DC subs.they will be 15"s should I build my next box subs up port back for SPL or what? I dont really understand what difference it makes where the port or subs face..you would figure subs forward port forward would be loudest because its going all into the cabin of the car and not bouncing straight off the back of the trunk. explain.
