Here's some background info:
I'm 16 and from New Mexico so cut me some slack for both of those haha
I have 2 previous builds:1 box for 2 12" Type Rs 1 cube sealed for each sub. I bought an RE MT 15" from mod4000 on usaci so i could try to build a ported box.
i built a box that was 3 cubes tuned to 32.

Both of those boxes looked terrible and so i decided to try 2 things i had never done before: A good looking box and a 10" sub.

So i bought a chrome 10" DC level 4 with Level 5 coils from Noobtastic14

http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/ac219/Jaredturpen/1116091607a.jpg

I bought the MDF and had the rest of the tools and went at it. I was told that screws add some strength but that i could build a box without them so i tried that and just clamped each side and waited for 5 hours to do the next one.

I routed out the sub cutout and the aero and the terminal cup.

I mounted the sub and roundovered the entire box.
This was my first work with the roundover so don't judge it too harshly :)

I just primed it and it looks like **** because the primer was sprayed on by my brother :( i will sand it off and restart....I will upload pics of it... then i am painting it with a textured black paint.

The box is 1.9 cubes tuned to 32 (biggest box that will fit into my little *** convertable coupe trunk)

Lemme know what you think

maybe everything he has is just shades of grey

That's likely it ^

The reason is because these pics were taken with my phone and the filter is b&w I'll change that soon..pics of the finished primed thang tomorrow.

Tomorrow night i should have pics of it at least somewhat fully painted..
Idk if i have said this but the paint is a textured black with white specks should look cool.

Probably going to a sundown 2k
Not strictly to match this sub I have 3 or 4 different setups I mess around with so I need more power..

Lots of bad news :(
First... i backed over my terminal cup :(
http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/ac219/Jaredturpen/cap.jpg

Super excited about that... I'll go get a new one tomorrow... 7 bucks i didn't need to spend..

Also I finished priming and sprayed on one side (the top) with the paint.
http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/ac219/Jaredturpen/box2.jpg
http://i901.photobucket.com/albums/ac219/Jaredturpen/box1.jpg

Second piece of bad news is that I'm going to need like 4 more bottles of this paint at 8$ apiece :/
I did the top only and it will get darker as it dries and i add more coats.. it should be almost black.

Pics were taken with my cell phone so you can only kinda tell what that paint looks like.
This is the bottle

Anyways the paint is like black sandpaper with white specks... High quality photos to come.
More paint tomorrow and pics of completely painted box tomorrow.

bolt method is pretty much the same thing as a binding post =). but if youre running that much power you dont want some cheap terminal connector with the cheap wire to be the weak point

I WISH!!!! God that stuff is expensive! It is textured yes.. its a rust-oleum product called multicolor textured in Black... like 5 buck a bottle

probably not the most durable stuff but still looks decent IMHO

You definetely need to invert mount that sub, its a waste for that to be regular mounted

CranberryYumYum
11-30-2009, 01:16 AM
shoulda laid down a few layers of regular spray can black before the expensive stuff

HAHAHHAH bro nothing here is expensive :)

I used 3 cans of primer though.... which ran me just under 20... and you are right.. a base of black would have darkened that top coat of texture which is more what i wanted... but i have a feeling that with a few more coats It will darken up.

Painted the rest of the box.. installed the sub port and cup
Paint is still kinda blotchy which the photos really bring out but it will dry nicely.

id say the mt in 3 cubes was too small, great job on the box..when i was 16 i had sonys lol..and i think a 6 inch port might be interesting ona 10 but also depends what ur trying to do...and y sub up and port sideways...other wise great work looks nice

its all in the box (and t/s specs) man, not in the size of the sub ;)

For the MT ....well it had to fit in the backseat of my tiny car haha... i would love to put it in 5 cubes or something but... NO ROOM

I'm going up to a 4" most likely.. Cant tell because it's in the trunk but i'm sure there is some compression

Sub up and port to the side because it's likely i'm selling this to a friend and he has a 4 runner where it will be sub back and port to the side... IDK if you can tell but there is barely enough room for this box in the trunk and this is the only way i can make sure that the cone isnt smashing into my trunk wall haha
