I've got 2 Memphis 15-PR10S4s that are DYING to be in a ported box. right now, they're in a 2.0 cu ft box and they pound pretty good, but I really would like the ground to rumble a bit when I go by. I'd like this box tuned to about 36hz and probably around 2.5 cu ft total. I drive a '94 accord and this has gotta fit nicely in my trunk and only take up about 50% of it. If you have any questions, let me know.

for $130 total it would be better for you to make it yourself, you have some local do it. Anyone out of state would not be able to do it for 130 because shipping would be around $40 anyway.

for a pair of 15s shipping would be a lot more than that.

I don't have 15s, I've got 10s. And I've already got someone building a box, so I don't need anymore volunteers.

Yeah, no worries, iamamp3pimp. I wasn't trying to be a ****. I totally agree though about Memphis' sub product numbers, they're a bit misleading.

As you know, I've already sent you the build pics and tracker a few days ago.
I know you wanted me to post up the build pics/etc here so here they are!

Got my box today, dropped my subs in it and it sounds pretty good. Unfortunately, I think I was probably wanting something a little lower. It's tuned to 34hz, probably shoulda done 32 or 30.

In fact, I'd go with the 34 since if you go lower, you're going to drag down your output until you get to the tuning frequency. You just want some better speakers, that's all. PRs just aren't outstanding woofers.

So what kind of subs sound better in that box? I know the first thing you're gonna say is probably sundowns or audioques or something lol. I've only got a 500w rms amp though. Is there some 250w rms speakers that would hit the lows a little better maybe that aren't TOO expensive (i.e. less than $100 per sub)?

You have to pay to play man. Incriminator Audio 187s can be had pretty cheap..

Hmm...well my amp is 300w rms @ 4 ohms and 500w @ 2 ohms, so could I even hook two of those up and get it down to a 2 ohm load with those subs?

No, you could only run 1 at 2ohms. Sell your amp and get something that does around 800 at 1ohm at let that **** wang!:D

Unlike most on here, I actually consider all brands whether they're mainstream or only 2 days old. What's more important is what type of sound you're looking for? Pure SQ? SQL? Budget SPL?

Chris Z
11-28-2009, 08:06 PM
Budget SPL. But uhh I threw my Fosgate P1S410s back in there, and they're slammin now. They require a lower volume for an enclosure and I guess the volume wasn't large enough to sound real great with the memphis subs. Note that these fosgates are 100w rms less than the memphis subs too.

Yeah...haha. But I've heard the volumes posted on the memphis site are lower than what the subs actually need.

I have a question for all you box building folks:

I am having a hard time finding a good balance because of the music I listen to. Had a box built, but I'm not happy with it after a month. I love the rumble of my R&B and Gospel music, but I also like the hard hit on those days when I wanna hear some rock. I can't have a sealed and a ported box (can I?) since it has been ill advised. I have plenty of trunk space (Chevy Trailblazer 4-door). What are your opinions?
Driver: Infinity Perfect 10DVQ powered with a RF T-4002 bridged (512 watts RMS)

Yeah man!! LOL. I like em' as they're lightweight, look fine, and cheap. They actually work REALLY well as long as you aren't pushing more than 1200 wts rms through them. I have various terminals I offer to customers though. Anything with anything over 1k wts rms and I ALWAYS rec. gold plated terminals that accept up to 8 awg speaker wire in!

Good info there^^^^

I like the way this guy talks^^^;)

But yeah, the enclosure is perfect and I assure that. It's solid and ready for just about any high end 10's! Like suggested, those Memphis subs are a bit on the low end. There are tons of 10's that I'm sure would blow you away with around 500 wts rms per sub, maybe even less. RE SE's are a good "budget" loud/sql type sub along with the FI SSD copper coils. There are a ton of the out there...just have to do some research!!
I'll be glad to help you out bro as I have tons of high end subs laying around....everything from 8's, 10's, 12's, 15's and 18's. Only PAIR of 10's I have currently are a pair of like new in box Oz Audio Matrix Elite 10's! VERY nice subs as I'm sure others will tell you.
Email me if interested!
