View Full Version : is there anything wrong with making the sealed box too big?

i was running 2 kicker 12 cvrs and the xtant 603x (300 watts x1 @2 ohms) at 1 ohm for a while so it was probably putting out 600 watts, or close to it. it sounded real good on the low end bass and i was wondering if that could create problems in the future
i dont like ported boxes, but thats probably because ive never had one done right

Unless you made the box extreamly large, like 10 or 15 cubes you should be fine. You don't want the box to be soo big that the back pressure has diminished to a point where it doesn't help control the sub. But as long as your not clipping your amp and not over excursioning your subs you should be fine.

Twice the VaS of the sub is where the sub starts to act as if it were in a free air environment. Just dont go above that number

so what about an eD e10K.14 in 1cf enclosure?
well, the vas is in liters, so just convert that to cubic feet. The answer is you should be fine, as the sub will displace a slight amount itself, along with wires, etc.
