Once again we'll be running the SPL portion of the annual Jammin 107.7 Car Show in Waterford CT on Sunday September 27th. There will be cash prizes for the Loudest in the Amateur, Stock and Super Stock categories as well as cash prizes for a few of the car show categories, including a $500 prize for the car shows Best Of Show winner. NESPL will be passing out our end of the season trophies for the Top SPL Team, Most Improved Amateur Class Score and Most Improved Stock Class Score, DC SoundLabs are sponsoring these trophies. We'll also have a few other special trophies we'll be handing out at the show. Jammin is taking care of the car Show and SPL trophies, last years were pretty big so we can only assume this years will be just as great.

Registration begins at 9am, and the show and judging begins at 11am. The show is expected to run til about 4pm. Make you get there early to get the best spot for the SPL line up. These shows get pretty packed, don't get bumped out by a show car. Entry fee's are going to be $30, this includes the SPL and Car Show, it's one fee for everything. Spectators are $5.

I wish they weren't both the same day. I was making plans on renting a trailer for the L.I. show but this is gonna be just as big as the Streetwheelz show here in Ct. so I need to represent at home.

Yeah, it's too bad they are the same day. I figure everyone from NJ & NY would be hitting that show and New England guys would most likely hit my show in CT. I just wasn't gonna say anything about my having a show the same day when I've been posting on the StreetWheelz thread.

I was talking to radio station today, looks like they're planning on having 1st thru 3rd place trophies, plus Loudest overall in Amateur, Stock and the Super Stock classes. Still working on the details of the cash prize/prizes for loudest SPL of the day.

As far as a class to compete in, it depends on how tall your enclosure is. If it's below the window line you'd most likely be in Stock 3. If it's above the window line, but lower than the top of your front seat (minus the headrest), then you could do the No Wall class. If it's higher than the top of your front seat you'd be in the Super Stock 1 class. You basically have to compete in the class for which your system actually fits.

its below the window, its a trunk car, subs faced cabin sealed off from trunk.
so stock 3 im guessing?

Thats why we're trying to work on cash prizes for the loudest Amateur, Loudest Stock and loudest Super Stock. Just to make a little better for the other loud guys. I'm not sure about Keith, but Mike picked up his new ride on Sunday. He's planning on driving it out to Tonawanda for the Drags 3X next weekend, hopefully he'll bring it to this show too.

Unfortunately no, they don't want to take care of that many trophies and we pretty much have a time frame thats too short to do both formats. We will be allowing 3 runs for those only doing the SPL format, and 1 for those doing the car show portion. If we have time left over than we can allow more runs.

We'll have Slammin Bass at the show in Chicopee on October 11th.

The show in in the Southeastern part of CT, it's right off of Rt 95.

No idea yet if he'll be there with the van or his Cutlass. If he gets his glass replaced then maybe, but Finals is coming up the weekend after and he's going to that, so we'll see what he brings.

Just checked the weather channel website and it says 40% chance of rain on Sunday. I'm gonna be driving in from NY to CT Sat night to chill with some friends in New Haven regardless, so we'll roll through either way.

I only come back home to NY/CT like 3-5 times a year so i prolli don't know any of you guys attending(moved to FL 4 years ago).

Who will be driving what and what are your guys names, I'd wanna say what's up and meet some of you while I'm up there.

Have you talked to rusty about your setup, last time I checked with him you will nee more power then those 3ks to really push the level 5s. I know the 4xls love 3-4k daily :D

MikeCole89
09-23-2009, 04:12 PM
havent talked to him about it..might though but i got the 3000ds laying around..dont have much room for more batts, and all i could find was A 200 AMP alt tried dcpower and mechman

either way 3k to each should sound ok...hopefully haha i was gonna go with a burp box but i dont have enough room for changable ports ect so i deicded to just have box tuned to 35hz so i can still play daily

Mr. Slate
09-23-2009, 06:46 PM
Seem like people want the Level 5 subs just to say they have them. They don't mind paying the extra money even if they don't need them.
I've seen numbers drop by using a heavy duty sub and minimal power.

X2, if your not planning on running a minimum of 5K to each one it's probably not going to be worth the extra money. It's the same deal with the Fi BL and BTL's. I was going to buy a pair of Fi BTL's and run maybe 4K to each one, Scott from Fi told me that wasn't enough power for the BTL's to be worth it. I'd be better off with the BL's and just drop a couple extra spiders in there and stiffen it up a bit. The motor is way too big and heavy to move efficiently if you don't have a sh*t ton of power behind it. For a pair of Level 5's and 6K, you'd want a minimum of a 200 amp alt, and 3 big batteries to keep the voltage drops down and get even close to the 6K you think our gonna get out of those amps. You'd be much better off with a pair of Level 4XL's instead of the Level 5's.

loudmofo
09-23-2009, 08:07 PM
i would run the lv5 daily with 3000w or more the 4xl will only take 3000w-3500w on music safely if you want dc subs and are at 3000w plus only thing to get is lv5s cause the 4xl get smelly dailly with a ton of power.

Mr. Slate
09-23-2009, 08:50 PM
From what I understand there's not much difference between the 4xl and level 5. I don't know.

****, 8 lvl5's, thats about 625 pounds of sub. A 12" lvl4XL weighs in at 53 pounds, where the lvl5 weighs in 78 pounds each. Between all those subs and the double layer mdf enclosure you gotta be looking at 800 pounds, never mind all the Kinetiks you'd need.

SPL Blazer
09-24-2009, 10:45 PM
No chance of SQ. I can handle doing SPL metering, but I don't know enough about SQ judging, or have the meter to do it properly. Our Boomer shows in Nashua NH have SQ, but it's cause the guys from the shop handle that portion with their meter. If I had someone that could come out to our shows and run an SQ portion then I'd love to offer it, unfortunately I don't know anyone to do that.

I've heard the difference and it is very significant from 147-152-53... I got the chance to go to SBN + Florida finals the last 2 years(not competing) and the demos from sum of the 159.9 bassracers were brutal to say the least.

The station is pretty determined to have the show on Sunday regardless of the weather, so expect it to be wet for the beginning. If anyone has a canopy, feel free to bring it along to keep dry.

Thats kind of good to hear, been looking forward to this show for so long would **** to have it postponed. Of course I'd love a little more time to get my gear settled in, but it'll be a crazy morning with lots of excitement as I scramble to properly set up my new chit. Will be 1st time I wasn't prepared at least a day in advance argh. Maybe I'll suprise myself, or blow an amp up getting froggy :-)

Besides it should be clearing up by 10

depends on what channel you watch. The local weather was saying last night that it's gonna rain all day today. Either way, if they did do the show today they'd be losing thousands of $$$ cause all the car show clubs aren't going to show up in the rain. I know of around 40 cars that already said they won't be there if it happens today. So they really have no choice but to postpone it. Too bad too, cause I was looking forward to meeting Mark from SSA and hearing his demo truck.

I'm the 0-600 guy on the team. I don't know if it's mid 150's yet, havent tested much... but suffice to say I did got up a bit from the last show with some minor tweaking ... gonna try and get some more time in on it tomorrow or saturday.

Nate, man I love ya to death but you need to show up at a show and bust out some numbers before you talk all this sh** ... everyone on our team has done nothing but go up for the most part. I'd love to see you come in there and wreck the house LOL!

80, grats man! Glad to hear you got something with boom! I was waiting to see if you could catch up to me in 0-6. That last jump you did to 148's was nice! Kept me on my toes when I had the other car.

BTW, as far as national levels goes, as of 9/27/09 (based soley on our scores on the record, not what we do now), I was ranked #9 in the nation for 0-600 and 5th in the nation in SB2; Chris was ranked 10th in 601-1800, 6th in SB3, and 10th in SB5; Adam was ranked 8th in Pro Stock 0-600; and Jon was ranked 8th in SB2. So, at the national level we are still mildly competitive. I don't any of us even at our current numbers would win at finals but we could make a nice show of it LOL

You are doing a great job though, and next yr when my step-daughter is old enough to be a sitter (13) and my lil one is old enough to be sat by her (2.5) I'll be to more shows, plus if I can get the wifey to drive a stick she can take the RSX down and follow me in the CRX :).

@ Nate... jeez dont talk my talk if I cant back it up lol. My best #'s to date are 157.1 with four amps (1801+) and 155.9 with two amps (1801+ again)... I'd say these guys are all over that. If I can find a 4th Solo X 12 though... and new amp idea's... who knows? But I'm happy with my 2500d's and hope they hold up.
*edit* I will however try one 2500d @ .66 in the CRX to see what I do, thats 1200@4. I wish my soundstreams werent 1100@4 :( , stupid power ratings.

A big thanks to Steve for a great show yet again. 39 SPL entrants, 6 guys well into the 150's and if I counted right 20 over 140, alot of tough competition and tons of over the top show cars. That many entrants @ a rain postponed show on the weekend of world finals is pretty impressive to me. Was a real fun day on the 13 event of the season (17 scheduled as of now before the season is over) just one of the MANY reasons NESPL is the best <edit:> the only SPL organization In the North East.

I think the 2 best parts of the day were getting to meet some new people (it was a real pleasure) and getting to talk to some "familiar faces" that I only get to see at events. I'll save everyone the bother of reading the names, for those that don't recognize my profile I'm the tall skinny guy with the TC that should be louder with his equipment ;-) lol But I get louder at every single event with no small thanks to the guys I'm talking about. The people in Steve's League are real friendly and seem always willing to offer advice, even if your in the same class its an actual "friendly competition". As Chris from ACT alluded to NESPL is a model organization, other's should be ran so well and be filled with the type of people I'm surrounded by at each event.

I look forward to seeing you all next Sunday in Chicopee, MA.

P.S. Dave L. next week, I'll show up wired proper like and maybe I'll finally do the enclosure you built me some justice, and yes I will bring the fire exstinguisher

-Bill

That excursion was pretty sick, too bad he was having a lot of problems wit the amps shutting off, he managed a 140.5 before his amps shutdown. If he hadn't been doing demo's for people for over an hour he would have been a lot higher.

What would really be impressave is doing this with one battery two 12`s and one amp car off on the glass. :p:

2 15`s and two batcaps car off. its not a bad # looking good but you going to need to be louder then this next yr. 158.7 is the us # to beat and im sure terry is not going to let that happen easy. but i know he has a 160 in there.:p: good luck next yr.

You can't run 2 15s in Street B can you?

street b explor
10-07-2009, 08:21 AM
No ya cant Nate only one and ya cant run quad coil subs nether. and you have a max of two amps one 850 sq in battery car off.

3 10`s 2.12`s one 15 or 4 -8`s .

street c is two batterys non multi cells 850 sq in no bat caps.

4 amps only 4 condoctors aloud to amps so 4 strapped no quad coil subs aloud.
box must be below the lowest part of the front window line in the cargo area behind the b piller. car must be off and below 14volts in order to start the run

subs are
8-10`s
4-12`s
2-15`s
1-18
all below the lowest part of the window line.

next yr will be a fun yr cant wait just need to look into some nice amps and a few fresh batterys and lots of testing on my new box im gona try some 10`s see if i can get a lil more box vol and a 6 in port will be like a bigger port in my 12 box so i have lots of work to do should be fun like all ways.

There are a few guys on the team that will be doing some crazy stuff next yr im also taking on a few new guys this should be fun as well:D
and some have grown wings to do there own thing wish them all the best.
word of advice to them JUST DO IT. It was you the whole time and dont lisen to what others tell ya you will always have family here.

Well off to work have a good day every one.

if he wants to do dB Drags Street classes then yeah, he'll have to get rid of the BatCaps, but if he is planning on doing a lot of my shows or even Drags SS No Wall, there are no rules on multicell batts like the BatCap. And unless Wayne makes some serious changes next season I think we can consider Drags to be dead in New England, just my opinion. I'll run some Drags shows next season if there's enough interest to make it worth it. Seems the only people that were even considering Finals this season were hitting the 3X shows to get their points, so no real point in spending the $$$ on Drags 1X shows.

CRXBMPN
10-07-2009, 09:43 AM
drag is no fun with people leaving the sport and not many back filling, and the venues are so far away its retarded. Keep doing what you are doing steve, it gives us a chance to play too. Maybe we can get on the same page and I can do a few shows up here under the organization's name.

Mr. Slate
10-07-2009, 03:10 PM
Steve, I'm willing to pay a membership so we could have our own finals next year. I'm sure most of the guys here would agree with me.
Drag is dead and from what I heard the other day, USACi is just about dead. Seems like so many competitors are unhappy with USACi.

CRXBMPN
10-07-2009, 03:35 PM
membership for slap was $25 and we got a cool badge, and it was ~$100/vehicle at finals, I think alot ALOT of us would do that, especially if you did points like they had as well... Travelling 3 hours > travelling 23 hours to uhhh Tulsa!

I'd be in it for that... First SPL Maine back in the day, then SLAP, now this I hope.

SPL Blazer
10-07-2009, 05:28 PM
It's a cool idea for sure, but I think NESPL is still too new to get serious about an actual membership. We'll see how next season goes, and if the average number of competitors at each event grows next year like it did this year, then we'll put some serious consideration into it. For now it's more about just having fun and running some shows for those looking to show off being loud. I'd love to be just a competitor, but if I don't run the shows there really isn't anyone left to do it, with a couple of exceptions of course.

SICK GV
10-07-2009, 05:30 PM
I would do a membership deal with NESPL. Adam and I were saying it would also be cool to have a regional event at the end of the year. Im putting most of my effort into Nespl. If a drag show comes around Ill def go but as far as I'm concerned Ralph and USACI can go **** themselves. If you need any help Steve you have the Team at your service.

I'd like to be able to offer Slammin Bass at every event next season, but with time limitations at some car shows and the night shows, it wouldn't work out too well. Kind of like trying to run a drags and Bass Race event at a car show, and have only 3-4 hours to get everything done. Hopefully we can get some more shows at actual car audio shops in 2010 and we won't have to worry about time limits like that.

We are looking into running a points system for competitors next season, no details on that yet, but it's in the works. Like I was telling Nate at the CT show, during the off-season we're going to get a thread going on a forum, probably not this one. The purpose of the thread will be to discuss new rules and ideas for the 2010 season. Pretty much the same thing other orgs do before the next season starts up. I'll let everyone know when I get this posted, don't expect to see it til Dec maybe January.

Steve you have a good following up here because you are stand up good guy who we have direct access to through the forums. I think if you did something small like just an end of the year show it would be suffice for us all. Its fun to compete all year, but there is quite an empty feeling when you have no "finals" of any sort to kind of signify the end of the season. Plus if you have a tried and true finals people may take the bags of sand out of their vehicles ;)

We had intended for the Jammin show to be our last big show of this season, then we got offers to do a couple more after that. The show coming up this weekend in Chicopee will be a decent size show I'm sure. We'll be passing out 4 big trophies for the Top Team, Most Improved SPL in the Amateur & Stock class and also one for the 2009 NESPL Competitor Of The Year.

The last show of the year will be a night show in Epping NH, it gets pretty cool at night but the location is great and they let people crank it up and demo if they want. It's more of a laid back type show.

This show happens on October 17th in Nashua NH. Registration is from 9-12, the show runs from 12-5. This show is presented by Lower Level Customs and is a charity show for the FoodBank of New Hampshire, so proceeds will be handed over to them at the end of the show.

This show takes place on the site of one of the largest haunted houses in America, over 20,000 sq feet of haunts. The haunted house opens up at 5pm, we've been told that anyone taking part in the car show or SPL Sound Off will receive discounted admission after the show. This will be a fun show for all.

The show will be at:
