OK here is my problem my bass keeps knocking my dang rear view mirror off my windshield ... i literally have put it back on there about 10 times i finally got tired of buyin permatex rear view mirror professional strength adhesive and resorted to super glue , because it is cheaper. what do you guys suggest for a good adhesive for this because im really getting tired of messing with it and i don't want to have to mount it every other day!!

I havent had my rear view on for months and havent missed it honestly. But some windshield/rear view mirror glue should work...pretty sure they sell it exclusively for rear view mirrors attaching to glass

Possibly look up online a semi-flexible, strong epoxy to use

Your bass is too loud ;)
Try gorilla glue, i think it's a good bit stronger than super glue

I think you'll be wanting something that isnt very brittle once cured...I think the gorilla super glue says its more shock-resistant so it may be something to try

I had that problem in my Jimmy. The mirror wouldn't tighten all the way onto the button. If the mirror is loose on the button and won't tighten, buy a new mirror. It will only keep falling off. The mirror will vibrate a lot more if it's loose on the button, causing the adhesive on the button to fail much sooner than it should. I haven't had any trouble since I got my new mirror.

I've used it but not in that particular situation, luckily my RV mirror is still intact (knock on wood). But I've used it to bond other things and it works really well, not too sure if it will work in your situation, with glass to plastic, but it's deff worth a try. I can promise u it will work better than super glue. :)

some one was telling me to take it to a professional to get it put on but i really don't wanna spend $35 to get it professionally install for such a stupid thing. and besides that it probably would fall of anyway.

I tried gorilla glue and it failed. Used some glue at walmart that was specifically for it and it works fine.

you do clean the old glue off with a razor blade right? Just get used to it. Or screw it to the headliner

Apollo220

weld it
u can't weld a mirror to glass it would break my windshield. unless your talking about jb weld and i have used that on other things and its not as good as they say it is

Apollo220

yeah i scrape all the excess glue off the button and the mirror reclean the windshield with glass clean let it dry for about 10 minutes then put the glue on the button attach it to the windshield and then i even tape it on there after about 3 minutes of hold it to the windshield then come back in the next day after work and put the mirror back on it tighten the screw down on it turn on my music and bam the dam thing falls off again:verymad:

its possible. build a medal bracket coming out of your roof an angle it to come down and ****....

Apollo220
08-15-2009, 06:50 PM
yeah then i could weld it to the roof of the car and it would hold that way for sure but i don't have a welder so kinda ruling that one out. if i had the materials i definitely would do it

Honestly I'd have to give a big 'x2' to leaving it off. You can still watch behind you pretty darn well with your side mirrors, if youre loud as it is...you shouldnt be able to see the cop in your rear view if it were there...it'd be shaking/moving a good bit and wont be able to see him through that. At first it was a little different for me, but after a while I noticed I didnt really ever need a rear view mirror, you get by just fine without it.

Havent had a rearview mirror in so long I have learned to drive without it. It feels wierd getting in my other car that has one. I say leave it off. Too much of a hassle to make it stay.
