hello everyone i am going to attempt my first time ever designing myfirst sub box to custom fit in were the rear ash trayin the center of the rear were the bump is in the middle of the car (96 maxima)
well some one posted a link to JL's website i am guessing and the factory specs for a sealed box are
16" x 9" x 8"
w h d

our idea is to make our box 12" x 9" x 12" thing is is this the like internal area of the box? or is it the measurement the box has to b on the outside?? im confused can i get some professional advice?? thx

btw the sub is a 8w3v2-d4 8" JL subwoofer and i wasnt to make a sealedbox thx

and this will also be helpfull to a 1st timer

07-30-2009, 12:47 AM
ermmmm thx but didnt answer question

07-30-2009, 12:52 AM
:wow:is that the max dims you have ??
enter you out side measurements and wood thickness and poof it'll answer your question

07-30-2009, 12:58 AM
ermmm no i have a few questions

do the measurements that the manual gives say thats the outside measurements or the inside and my wood is MDF 3/4 inch thick

07-30-2009, 01:02 AM
it should say both in the little drawing or right
but the volume it gives is internal

and btw 12"x9"x12" would yeild .47 ft^3 internal

07-30-2009, 01:05 AM
ermmm i dont understand wat all that means lol i just want to install this sub in the back in the tight area that i want to put it in and i want to get best performance out of it i can achieve thx

07-30-2009, 01:20 AM
you want to put a box in a space thats 12x9x12 right??

that only gives you .47 cubic feet before the sub get put in (sub displaces volume )
so volume would get even smaller

what does that manual say for minimal sealed enclosure??

07-30-2009, 01:33 AM
ummm it says 16x9x8 im just trying to customize this box so it fits in were i want it to go and still get best performance so im so confussed wat should i do?? i have no clue what my Depth Height and Width measurements should be ermm

07-30-2009, 01:34 AM
ok it says .30 net so you can build it to those dims if you want
should perform well
can you build it or do you need it built for you and shipped
hell cuz u are trying i'll build and ship for $60

07-30-2009, 01:37 AM
**** man if i had that money i would do it to but **** idk were u get all these numbers from and btw u think an old punch 100 would be great for this sub?? also u sure these dims are good enough to get best performance?

07-30-2009, 01:37 AM

07-30-2009, 01:45 AM
ya the box isnt going in the trunk its going in the back seat were the rear passangers put thier feet in the middle over the hump were the center ashtray is

07-30-2009, 01:47 AM

07-30-2009, 01:50 AM

07-30-2009, 01:53 AM
yes color matched w terminal cup if you want and pre wired w/12 gauge

07-30-2009, 01:54 AM

07-30-2009, 01:57 AM
figure out what internal volume the speaker likes; build your box according to that; thats what i have learned without actually designing and building; listen to the people on the forums

07-30-2009, 02:04 AM
