For spl, do an external 6" aero in a 1.25ft box. See what #'s you do with the hd3. I have no idea on the HW. I gotta figure out where to tune mine.
just throw in in my jeep wrangler. I already have a box for it on a 40.1

car peaked at 40hz in the last setup...and does best all sealed up
what do you think to tune it to for spl? 45?
wonder if i could use a 6" aero for daily

I would imagine I have enough space
Goin in a trailblazer. Dimensions I want to use are 36" W x 30" D x however high

Steve miller told me 1.25 for higher spl and 1.5 - 1.75 for daily but NO BIGGER than 1.75 he said.

Yeah with that much power try 1.0-1.25 cubes. ~40hz
I have had iffy results with 6th orders, typically you will be just a loud with a reg. ported set up, and they're easier.
A big aero would be cool but could be very long. A single 4" should be good for daily.
I have a 10" in 1.15 @ 40ish with a 4" port...I'm just waiting to throw some real power at it. although 150ish watts is enough for everyday listening

then maybe you were not doing it right (that's what she said )
also hit up funkinmovin he has had some poutstanding results with a 6th order
housing an hdc 15 80 inches designed it

good to hear my man...can't wait to try it out. Workin on a crx design right now...along with a 2 4" aero design for spl. and a single 4 for daily

I may just try some regular ported boxes for now....but I know a 6th order would let it handle the power better.
also if I do 2 4" aero's or 1 aero for spl...do you think I could do higher tuning, like around 45 hz? or what should I tune to

depending if I work tomorrow than I'll work on a box or 2
probably do external ports
btw how do you guys mount your external ports? screw from the inside or outside of box...or flange lip on outside or inside?

i put flange on inside as well but if you screw it after a couple of changes the wood will be fraged
and i'm only talking 1/4" bolts not very big

very true..I may try that with some washers so the plastic hold up :)
Try tuning the AQ to 30 hz. It's worth it. I was really surprised.

hmmm not sure how it would like it off the power
with my hdc3s I tuned to 35 and they liked it, just hope the hd3 suspension is better:crap:

Well turn the gain down some then. I have about 1500-1600w going to my hdc310a in a 1.5 cubic foot box tuned to 30hz and it plays a nice 29 hz test tone. Can't go lower than that with a test tone on full power.

For external aero's you should put the flange on the inside of the box, will make a smooth transition.
and most 6th orders made for SPL have ****** power handling out side of a specific bandwidth because the sub will unload. And that dude with the 6th order for the AQ 15" didnt even break a 140 iirc, so I wouldnt be idolizing that build.
