View Full Version : Will this Box Work?

I am switchin to a new sq setup. I am going to grab two Kappa Perfect 12s my trunk layout is kinda wack so I was comin up with ideas to make it sound good without putting down seats to get full effect. The rear speakers are in the doors but there is still 6x8 openings in rear deck ( with carpet over them ) and I was thinking I could have subs firing into the trunk with 4" flares through the 6x8 openings. will this work for me or should I come up with something else? Also would i save space by going to a 4th order bandpass with the same idea. I am running them in the ported box at 1.75-1.85 @ 30hz. Here is the design rough.

I would suggest 4th order if you want the ports through the rear deck. I would suggest 4th order for a sq trunk car regardless. A well designed 4th order can sound just as good as a sealed box and by porting through the rear deck, all your output will be in the cabin where it should be.

Now, I just need a design. I'll google a tutorial on designing or something. Is there someone on the forums who I could go to for a design? I think more research on 4th orders is my best bet. Build log should start in next couple weeks equipment will be all infinity.
kappa 6.5 components up front with fiberglassed tweeter mount
kappa 5.25 components in rear doors
(2) kappa perfect 12.1s
Kappa ONE amplifier
Kappa FOUR amplifier
knu wiring/rcas/extra's
group 31 bat. either deka or optima yellowtop
