How do you calculate the port area of an aero? Is it as simple as calculating the area of the circle? What if they're flared?
I want to use an aero for my next setup but I don't know anything about them :P

3.14 x radius squared for a 4" aero 2x2 x 3.14 = 12.56 6" aero is 3x3 x 3.14 = 28ish your gonna wait like 10 square inches per net cubic foot

so it is just basically calculating the area of a circle? Do flared ends make a difference?

I thought flared ports just reduced port noise

yeah your just finding the area of a circle

Sorry to hi jack this thread, but lets say for instance you were making a 2.5 cube box, aero porting around 33hz using 4" aeros. For the correct port area 2 would need to be used. using the psi-inc calculator it says port length needs to be 22.95 inches.
Is this total port length so each would be 11.475 inches each or 22.95 inches a piece? (this is the number including the flares)

I believe those calcs give you the specs for EACH port, so you would need 2 ports, with a length of 22.95 each.

ok cool thanks for the help and sorry for the thread hijack

when you use the psp calc it has input for the # of ports, that is the length for each one

hey can someone give me the advantages of an aero port please, I am a little confused on what the benefits would be.....

save alot of room only need like 10 square inches of port area compared to like 16. pvc port walls are alot thinner so they take up less room then .75" mdf port walls but yeh box is alot smaller cuz the port takes up like half the space. oh yeh and u can change the tuning alot easier than a slot port

how exactly can you change the tuning easier? thanks for the explanation

by changing the port legnth which u cant do with a slot port.. well u can make the slot port longer by adding to the port wall, but its gonna make the net volume smaller. if u make a aero port longer it doesnt affect the net volume hardly at all

Basically you can knock the pipe out and shorten or lenghten to change tuning.
