bored..thought id post this up..

car is an 08 civic si w/ an intake, pulleys and some other small bs..no header or exhaust. its a before/after tune..

http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/attachments/west/22274d1247432714-oregon-chat-thread-matt-s-civic-results.png

Vtec crossover was lowered, ride-line was raised to 8500rpm, and it now has an adjustable 2-step/launch control after the tune.

the guy that sent em to me didnt send me the right ones, he just took the first and last and plotted em..my second baseline pull and second to last were actually me best pulls. started w/218whp and 160wtq and ended with 225/161, but whatever..

best run before tune was a 14.085 w/ bfg drag radials..hoping for a 13.8.

'04 Dodge 1500 with a Hemi. I kinda lied about no mods...only engine mod I have is cold air intake. But the truck is lowered which gave me a little better launch than before. I haven't raced it since I got the 22's though...probably slow my time down a bit since I was running 17" steelies before.

Oh...BTW don't go by a dyno for drag times as they are almost always off. a stock si will run almost 15 seconds on the 1/4:fyi:

This is my daily driver, it gets 35mpg hwy, has a 100,000 warranty and I can road race at the track 5 min from my house with it. I don't really feel like getting into a pissing contest with you. I've been a chevy guy my whole life and I still have a chevy project that I've been working for nearly 3 years.

I'm happy you enjoy your truck and I didn't follow those links, but I'm pretty competant when it comes to these cars and I didn't put incorrect #'s down

that k20 motor is bad *** imo. The motor can take like 15lbs of boost without even having any mods. Well, it can take more but it can do it daily and last at 15.

lol, I think it's more about the humidity, but ok.

nope....look up the difference in density of 80* air and 35* air and you will understand why the motor has more power.

and don't forget to add more fuel:D

hornedfrog1985
07-13-2009, 01:45 AM
So you might gain at the most 5 hp from 100 degrees going to 35 degrees?

InhumanAcura
07-13-2009, 01:48 AM
Elevation, humidity and temperature all play a role..there's calculators that can convert 1/4 times..dynopack actually takes all of it into account and gives a consistent reading no matter where you are.

I used to live by the Baytown dragstrip in Texas which is the fastest track in the world because it's right at sea level.

dman4486
07-13-2009, 01:50 AM
So you might gain at the most 5 hp from 100 degrees going to 35 degrees?

For every 11 degrees Fahrenheit or 6 degrees Celsius change at the intake, a 1 percent change is apparent in horsepower. Cooler air is more dense and therefore has more oxygen per cubic foot than warmer air. More oxygen allows for more fuel to be burnt, and therefore more power to be produced.

Example:

If the air ingested by the engine is 66 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than the surrounding air, (engine heat!?!) then a 6 percent increase in power can be realized

Funny, I used to drive a gutless 5 year old bone stock stickshift 4-banger Ford Ranger. Civics, Accords, and other loud compacts and quicker vehicles liked to bully me all the time cause they knew I couldn't get out of my own way.

Now I drive an 09 Tundra Crewmax 4x4.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/trucks/112_0907_2009_ford_f150_toyota_tundra_comparison/specs.html

The one in this article is the next trim level up from my SR5 with 20s vs. my 18s and probably 100 pounds or so of extra luxury equipment in it and they had 0-60 in 6.5 with a 15.1 second quarter mile.

Most won't even look me in the eye anymore and always hold off for a second to let me pull away first. .

This regular cab 04 Hemi did the quarter in 15.1 according to Motortrend. So it ain't that far-fetched.

Get a good header like an SMSP/RMF and Kpro. Only down side it that a good header will cost any where between $600-$1000 and Hondata's Kpro is another $1000.
