What type of CAD software would be used to draw designs like these:

I was playing around in SolidWorks last night, granted I'm not very good with it yet, but it appears that w/e is being used for those drawligns above may be better suited than SolidWorks?? Or if anybody is familiar with SolidWorks, is anybody wiling to give a noob some helpful hints??

solid works is a great program i use it at school. it can do so many things its crazy. google sketch up is a good program and is easy to use but cant do near what solid works can

I have had google Sketchup for quite a while but can't figure out how the **** to use it...

Yes, solidworks is rpetty ******. I have an engineer friend who's designed alot of new parts in it. Only thing is I can't find even a basic how-to anywhere, and teaching myself has proven to be extremely difficult.
