What do you all think of these? This is really MORE than I wanted to spend but are they good stuff? How would they sound?

whats your budget and amp?

Amp is undetermined, right now its just a cheap Hifonics witch will be used for a short time then upgraded when $$ permits, speaker budget is basically as little as I can spend but still get good quality sound, looking for something to go active with when $ allows. I would like to get into the 150-200 watt range with the comps. I am planning a set of fiberglass pods in the doors that I will build. This will all replace the cheap but decent sounding MB quarts I currently have. A friend of mine went 9" three way morel elates and I just can't get over the sound!!

Focal makes very nice sounding comps, just make sure you like sharpness that focal tweeters produce.

I would be looking into morel or rainbow component lines.

I say go with a set of ID OEM mids if Hessdawg is still selling them and then a set of Vifa tweets to match

I agree with the above. I have had 3 sets of focals. Polyglass, K2p and KRX2. All were on the sharp side but super clean and loud. I like my Morel set much better as it doesn't hurt my ears. The polyglass set were less sharp compared to the others I had.

OP do you like sharp or smooth tweeters?

I usually don't recommend gear that I own, but given your preferences and expectations Polk SR6500 may work for you. Here's a brief review. You can see if this is what you're looking for:

Id go with 2 sets of the Morel Tempo6x's that woofersetc is selling for $200 shiped a set. Save some money, sound better, and be louder. Throw em in some nice pods.

That's woofers etc. selling that stuff on e-gey, be careful they are not "knock-off" Focals

I could but I have heard them in my in Laws truck and they are not that impressive, my MB Quarts sound as good easily if they are both on High pass, the morels do better in full range though for sure...

what model quarts? the pvis are awesome, huge midbass and biampable so you can tune the tweets seperately on hp and the mids on full. install is the key with them sounding stunning without being to harsh. I cant keep em in stock once people hear them .

No warranty support or replacement possible as well ! Great choice.

Especially when you are saving a whopping $50 off of full SRP ! Work with a local dealer and Im quite sure the price would be very similar.

The rear speakers I'm using would be perfect for your upgrade. No joke. You can't compare Dynaudio w/ Focal.

I got an offer for a great price on some Hertz HSK163's are these a nice package for what I'm looking for, just a great sounding speaker, I don't need them for competition and I will be putting them in door pods, so I will try to aim them properly....
