I have .5 inch plywood that I could use to build my box. My dad who is building it, (a respected carpenter who has been in the business many years) says that we could use the .5 inch plywood and double it where I mount my woofer. Then we would brace the box. I said that people on here like using the .75' MDF. I have a JL 13 W7 powered by a JL 1000/1. Would I have to brace this sub from the inside somehow, also?

If it's void-free ply, I don't see why not.

I'd probably double it throughout...

Would I have to brace the part where the sub is in it? Like prop it up somehow or would that mess up my sound?

You wouldn't have to with 1" walls, but bracing wouldn't be a bad idea.

13w7 in a .5" box?the sheer weight would break it,wouldnt it?
