ok so ive talked to 80 and im really contemplating doing a bandpass enclosure for my 06 Civic sedan and porting through the rear deck :D This would be my first bandpass box, and i just wanted some other opinions on what im thinking of doing. Ive heard mixed things about bandpass boxes and just want to know if im going in the right direction for a good mix of SPL and SQ (daily driver). Im thinking it will help with the trunk rattle and give some extra output because its being fired directly into the cabin. How do you think a DD 9510g powered off a sundown-3000 would perform in a 4th order bandpass box?

Ok so one of my friends (guy that i bought the sub from) says that this sub isnt really made for a 4th order and that the low roll off freq will be to high and the high roll off freq would also be to high (not good for daily driver). Anybody feel the same? just trying to get as much knowledge as possible : ) I have been talking to 80INCHES and JBLCAMRY about this bandpass box for the 9510g and this hasnt come up idk if its because they didnt put the specs in a program yet or if im missing some thing ????

i was going to do the same thing to my 62 chevy go to dd site and look up that bmw or mercedes.i think it had a 9512 fired into the back deck.

Im doing a bandpass, my reasons are similar to yours and there not also. My rear seats dont fold down so this was the easiest way to get extra output, not only that but it reduces trunk rattle. I also had 80 design mine so I trust that it will handle most/all music with good spl/sq as I know bandpasses are tricky to tune. Sealed is ~2 cubes and Ported is 4.34 @ 45hz

Im my opinion the DD 9510g is not suitable for bandpass at all, going by it's specifications, it's most happy in a horn (I've just finished a SPL horn for a 12'' with similar specs) and only barely passable in vented.

This is a very clear example of "There is such a thing as too much motor strength"

since dd doesn't recommend sealed boxes I would think 4th order bp wouldn't be a good idea either...

i know the 2510 works great in a 4th order but the thing is with dd subs are thier suspencion. they are too stiff to work good sealed(one chamber in a 4th order).
you can call dd and talk with them, they will let you know if it will work good or not.
i should have a 6th order bandpass for a 1508 in a few days that 80 designed for me.
if you can swing a 6th order, do it , most dd subs are right at home in one and they work very well in 8th orders as well but thoes can get quite big.

ive thought of a 6th order :D And i might have to swing that way. How big do you think a box would be for 1 9510g (6th order) would be ?

the low end and high end roll off is higher than that of a ported box. true, but if you can have a 4th order playing from 30-70 then who cares......i mean really.....who plays their subs above 70 HZ and calls it sq?

hey, the roll off of a 6th order is much sharper than that of a 4th order.

FYI

but once again, they can be designed to do pretty much what ever you want.

as far as size goes, i did one in my wifes car...was for an eclipse 12 and it was doing 135's on less than 125 watts.

but it was almost 4 cubes.

if i could have a 4th order box for my 9510g Playing 30-70hz that would be great :D but i dont think the specs really allow for it. (atleast thats what some programs ive been playing with are telling me)

my max dimensions are 38"W x 14"H x 16"D (subtract from depth to decrease volume) you think i could get away with a 6th order? aeroports going up to where both rear speakers use to be, one passanger side and one driver side rear deck.

i doubt the specs that you are working with take cabin gain into effect....

So this is what im thinking as of right now......

a 6th order bandpass aeroports going through rear deck speaker holes (little 3in tube i cut for example on the right side) with the width and height of the current box in there. 38"W x 14"H x whatever depth needed for optimal volume. Still need someone to help me with a design asked PWK and 80inches but both seem very buisy at the moment.
http://i39.tinypic.com/2lb4gl.jpg

where the porton the left will come out ( 4in aeroport most likely) and the right side is exactly the same. i would make baffle for the aeroports on the rear deck to fit perfectly. http://free0.hiboox.com/images/2609/d5c7766e5ec528a500e24854d586e10f.jpg (http://www.hiboox.com/go/pictures/cars-motos/cimg1838,d5c7766e5ec528a500e24854d586e10f.jpg.html )

be prepared for the 50 dollar design fee ... then the 10dollar fee if u want the process sped up

this is a design i would like it to resemble ( just made in sketch up) with the ports going in as far as needed and with as much depth as needed for airspace.
http://i41.tinypic.com/xf6y5l.jpg
http://i40.tinypic.com/23j4kno.jpg

the reason for the 2 1/4" extra on the front of the box is for a Sundown saz-3000d to sit flush mounted on the front of the box. 2.25"- .75" (to close box up) = 1.5" + .75( flush mount beauty pannel with amp cut out) = ***

Hey thanks 80:D the only thing that i can see that wont work is the 6 in aero port. ( its about 8" to get up through the rear speaker hole) what could we do about that?
