oh i know kids back in high school would do ported boxes. but didnt know how to properly make one. actully one of my friends made one. and i think i figured it was like 1.5cf at 45hz for a audiobahn 12

when you change port length what does that do?

shorter is tuning higher and longer is tuning lower. assuming the box stays the same net volume, but it will change a little if you make the port longer the sub has less space to use and the port shorter it has more room.

So, if I go to a smaller box, tuned to 30 hz my power handling will go up and tuning will be more daily correct?
in essence yes...but to small of a ported box will sound like crap. what driver?

yeh smaller boxes are more peaky or have a narrow freq response, but since your wanting to do spl it should be fine. kinda hard to get a good spl and daily box out of one box. say for example a good burp box would be like 3cubes at 40hz and a good daily would be 4cubes at 30hz. then you could do in the middle and 3.5 at 35hz which would be good for both imo
