View Full Version : bassbox pro help on L7 box design

Need a lil light here... Im design box using bassbox pro for a single Kicker L7 10

Curious on what I do about the port since it makes it one long port that is always longer then the box.

I understand that I can make it L shaped inside the box. Box how do I actually go about calculating is length if I what it to be as wide as the box is internally.

And if I know the area I have to work with... is there something I can do to make sure it doesnt go larger then my spec which are..
W = 33
H = 18
L = 25.. this one can actually go bigger.. its from the back of the seat to the trunk

I'm trying to go for as load as possible but still with really deep bass

not the best bro haha bbp shits all over the re calculator.

op bbp will tell you the overall length needed.

draw the L port measure down the middle of each part of the port. make sure the port measure the same width all the way through. good idea to make a 45* piece in the corner which makes the whole port the width needed.

Also,.. the box is like 5.5 cubes tuned at 32Hz
in design I just used up all available space

is this over kill for one L7 10"
and do I get much benefit from making it a little smaller

If you need to ask how to get it free....you probably shouldn't be trying in the first place...

first off man i do bbp design's all the time but what i want to know is what is this going in an 5.5 for an L7 is uuber overkill for a 10 man. don't know how i will sound but those subs don't need but 1.5 to 2.5 cubes, i have seen guys competet in a 1 cube ported before lol it was for port wars but it still fitted lol. but yea man those subs love small boxes 2.5 or 3 maxx would be good.
for as bassbox goes i usually play around with mine till i get it where i want to tune it too for my box. i usually make my port the length of the box across the bottom an play with the depth to change the tuning an such.

its going in a trunk of a friends honda. ya.. I need to go smaller.. he was just like.. well i got this much room,. use it..lol
I didn't even look aat how many cubes it made till today

06-03-2009, 08:50 PM
yea man bring that down to like 2.5 or something, let me pully mine up an i will see what i can come up with for you .

sweet,.. thanks

i forgot that the bbp is really a box design for home audio which is why your box for one 10 was so large. if you use aero ports which is what i use when i design you get a good tuning. i use a 4inch by 12 in a 28x14x15 at 43 hz

still haveing to master the slot on this **** program its hard to do it but i can be done cause my buddy showed me how too just have to remeber

06-03-2009, 09:42 PM
but yea man those subs love small boxes

l7's love big boxes

well guys over in usaci say's other wise an i trust those guys cause they have countless world records with those subs. the 15's love large boxes but the 10's an 12's they can play in 2. cubes to 4 depending on count of subs.

They love small boxes to do what? Burp?

They love small boxes to do what? Burp?

if by burp you mean BLOW up (with any kind of decent power )
i think they love free air lol mostly i've seen larger than spec enclosures for those but who knows maybe smaller is better i better rethink my 92 astro build maybe a chevette ? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

burp, streetbeat, bassrace you name it by the way check this out

this is usaci's streetbeat 1 he is running 2 l7 10's on a ma audio 4000d, he is a friend of mine an a closer friend of mine built this box for him, whom of which is on Team Kicker, or was. anyhow those subs can play in small boxes which is why kicker made them square an for more surface area. they can play in big boxes but i just think 5 cubes is a bit muchfor one 10 or one 12.

Nice,.. where do I get the specs for a box like that..lol .. jk :P

06-04-2009, 11:18 AM
and I really didnt mean that I was going to build a 5 cube box.. lol
I just did't check how many cubes that would make.

Think I going to try to shoot for like 3 cubes ported

any benefit with going smaller with a box tuned at 32 with 1000 watts to it
