Hello guys,
I just got his head unit. It plays CDs, and flash drives great. I know it could take a hard drive also. Any one who has this unit tried with a hard drive yet?

Thanks,

I used my 16Gig flash drive.... thats like 2,000 songs...theres no need for a big external hd......You won't listen to it all any ways.

i tried on my pioneer and it was an external harddive that was powered with only usb, and it wouldnt turn on, i believe your best bet is to have an external hard drive that has its own separate power supply, then just get a power inverter, or voltage regulator, voltage regulator would only be if the hard drive power supplly is less than 12 volts, other than that you should be straight

i have a carputer.....if you were wondering..... except i made it myself, the center coonsol in lineed with the insides of desktop computer, 2 fans, 1 in and one sucking air out, power suplly is under driver seat and power inverter in mounted on back of center consol so all i have to do is flip the power invert on, and press the power button and its all good

I just put my 160GB in and it powers on, but click around and the unit did not recognize the drive was plugged in. Is your 250GB HD bought it originally as external or did you buy and internal and put it into the case?
Thanks,

if ur connecting it to get power from the USB it will not work not enough power u need a power converter like in my sig which is around 30 to 40 bucks maybe less on egay.and it was an external one which i will do a test on my new maxtor 500gb next week

The problems with the bigger external hard drives is that they take more power to power them up and spin the drives. If you use small external ones, you don't have that problem. You can find a cigarette adapter to power up those larger external hard drives.
