If everything works out ok i am going to buy another hdc315a from a friend. Wanting to do 3 15's. Running dual 1 ohm voice coils and putting a .6 load on my 40.1. This will be my first wall i have built. What kind of design do you figure would suit me best. Type of ports? Thinking Areo? Tuning i for sure want to do at 38-40hz. Suggestions?

More inputs on port wise, Common or Seprate i have had both and am more or less neutral on which is better.

Normally for daily I'd suggest port in the middle to take advantage of the extra bracing it adds. But with 3 subs that's probably not possible, so I'd do port on Driver's side.

12-13.5cubes NET with 16-18^2 of port per cube and 38Hz would do very nicely. How much power will the IA do at .6?

I don't think I've seen a true wall with aeros, they've all used L ports that are usually rounded with bondo, mdf, or PVC

Thinking a square port center up top sitting between 2 of the 15s, and doing the other 15 center and bottom.

Why are you against a wall?

port on drivers side, or port on top of subs. so subs in a triangle shape close as possible on the passenger side with square port (rectangle) port on drivers side like the wall in my profile. or all three subs horizontal with port on the top (rectangle, horizontal).

should be loud. just seal off the sides of the baffle to the car, NO air needs to escape behind the baffle. NONE. you will probably gain 2db by sealing off the wall. SEAL IT OFF, and once more SEAL IT OFF. cant express it enough, if you dont, you only have a "box". you wont get the full effect of a "wall" without sealing it off to the vehicle.

Well I don't know something about having enough bass in a small car to not only damage your hearing but annoy everyone within a block radius i'm against.

Some of us don't like the casual commute to work. id rather be riding a shaking rollercoaster full of music, cant read anything, vision is blurred. I just loves the bass and i cant seem to get enough of it :D I am respectful though do not get me wrong, **** is always paused at stoplights, and residential neighborhoods, thats disrespect.

Colin, i do like this idea rather, gives room for the seats, port is center and subs visible all the way around. Also i could actually build this in 2 seprate boxes if at all possible in avoidance in removing my center consule and disassempling my shifter

I like this also, but the port i would rather do a slot all the way across the top

Never going to be able to do a slot all the way across due to having a "beauty" panel covering the sides

I'm pretty sure you will need to remove the center console.

My wall took 3 boxes to make work and it's sealed with beauty panels, but no great foam or anything so I know that's costing me on the meter. I gained .6dB just by putting the top panel in place.

You could do copper coils at that power level and save some $$$ unless you already have 2 alum coils.

Why can't he do side panels with a port all the way across the top? The side panels can sit flush with the face and screw into extra pieces put on the sides.

I will need to measure the max height on the door to see how tall i can even get and how long before it slopes down and would catch a corner. Or build the whole thing from the inside like my last 3 boxes haha

The whole reason i went to the wall was cause im not happy with my 40.1
@ 1ohm load, i just reconed from HDC3 Dual 2 copper, to HDC3 dual 1 aluminum, my copper dual 2's sat at .5 ohm and my 40.1 would scream with that ohm load. i wad doing low 48s on music with windows down and now im doing low 46s with the windows down, at least a 2 db downgrade, its driving me nuts at 1 ohm. so now i figured i would add another and have 3 with a .6 ohm and i don't see why i wouldn't be happy, should be at least a 2 db gain from 48s.

Not if i install a capacitor!! :fyi: haha just messin, i think 3 15's on a clean 4.5k should do well enough for awhile. . . . ill want more eventually

how would i approach sealing it off? suggestions? I was thinking backtape everything and them expanding foam or ductape and layers of fiberglass over that. . .

You would probably be louder on that power with copper, but no biggie.

If you can get behind the panels once they're in place then use Great Stuff or whatever. I don't compete, so numbers don't matter, so I didn't go to that extreme to seal it off. Just wanted a loud daily driver that kills on rock/metal and that it does...

Under 2k of power copper has been tested to be louder ;)

I might be heading out to Loveland over Thanksgiving, so I'll be wanting to hear your wall if I do...

build the box in the car as big as you can because if you want to change later you still have room. for the final faceplate go get some big cardboard and do 1-2 peice's for the front that way they are not weak.if your not worried about do hugh numbers dont do port on drivers side.do a port in the middle or the top of the box.i would say do all subs on the bottm and port along the top because you will need some room to do rear fill.
