gunna run a 1500w amp at 1 ohm,

so each sub is gunna see about 700-750 each.

just waiting for him to come over. it's a 96 honda accord. just want to messure from the floor to the back of the 6x9's, and the max width. the depth we can make as deep as needed.

the goal here is more sound quality but at the same time as mutch spl we can squeeze out of this thing.

the customer want's it to be able to get very loud and sound good doing so.
he listens to allot of RAP music, like young jeezy and sutch..

id like it to be tuned low, no higher then 38 hz... or whatever you think is best.

i got a box 30" x 14" x 14"

comes out 2 cubes after displacement at 36 hz...

I'd say like 4-4.5 cubes net with 60 sq. in of port tuned to around 34Hz if he listens to alot of Jeezy. I love Jeezy :D

let me take a gander.

was thinking that at least 2.5- 4 cu ft would be the best bet...

those subs only need 1.25 cube each....so 2.5 would be great for rated power...so i went smaller since you are almost doubling the power to the subs....

The only reason you would make a box that small would be to tune high for SPL. He said he wants it to be musical and hit the lows really well for rap. A larger box with lots of port area and a low tune would be much better suited. Just don't run them at full power. Just because your car has 500 h.p. doesn't mean you need to use it at every stop light... have some restraint. Now, if he only has room for 2 cubic feet, thats another story. In that situation, you'd want to use 1 12". You'll get louder on the proper enclosure with the right woofer than you would cramming two woofers in too small of a box with a really low tune.

i need this box to be spot on with good loud sound.

maybe dnick needs to rethink his design....

quoted from DJL
Bigger boxes mean it takes less power to unload the sub and cause it to over exert, smaller boxes let you use more power and keep the sub from unloading (over excursion)

Hmm, I looked on the PB website, I guess they can use 1.25 cu. ft, that seems quite small though. I'm using 1.5 cubes EACH on my 10's and they sound great, but granted, I'm not feeding em that much power, although they could take more. I'm just used to building larger boxes I guess. Proceed :crap:

that's what a sub sonic filter is for, correct?

SethPhillips

ok. my last box was 4cu ft tuned to 36 hz, for 2 FI SSD's, they are 800w rms, and i was giving them over 1k a piece..

Subsonic filter is the same as a low pass filter, just reversed. Just like filtering out the high freq. it filters out extremely low frequencies. It's so if you have a ported box, you can set it so that you never drive your woofers below your port frequency, or atleast not too harshly anyways.

cj407
04-30-2009, 02:22 PM
to an extent yes...but jeezy's tracks have frequencies of 27 hz also...so put on wouldnt be as apealing if ssf was set to oh say 34 cuz the box is so big...

Keep in mind, higher end audio stuff is rated conservatively. You can usually feed em more. Careful with the more cost-oriented brands. Granted... almost all subs can take a little more so long as the power you're feeding them is clean and unclipped.

if you want those designs ( i believe they will fit in an accord unless its that much of a difference between it and the civic) my paypal is [email protected]

What year is your Accord, or friend's or whatever. I'm actually driving a 1998 Accord. 1998-2002 was the same body style, and even the ones up to '04 or 05' shared the same trunk compartment. I can give you some dimensions if you needed to know.

ok change of plans
going to do 1 12'' Powerbass 3xl 1 ohm dvc sub

need box rise to bring it 1 ohm load..

same demensions and everything still

cj407
04-30-2009, 05:29 PM
i wanna see someone predict impedence rise just based on the box....thats all up in the air until the box is finished and sub is put in....

cj407
04-30-2009, 05:31 PM
box that i designed for 2 2xl's will still work for 1 3xl....since they only need 2 cubes...but no one can tell you what the final load will be
