Heres my set up. http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=380102
pix of the L7 are on page 3

I have a 8L7 Kicker Solobaric in a sealed box built to spec and %50 polyfill . Giving it 600 watts @ 2 ohms .. Firing into the cabin from the rear armrest/skipass. To be honest It sounds like garbage. At high volume it starts to sound muddy-ish. Not what I expected for an L7. SQ ***** . I know ported is my next option but i want to save on space though.

that, but u should try building a ported box, i might help. i don't think those subs are meant for sealed, but i don't have much experience w/ them

what are you talking about???

OP if its not sealed to the ski hole turn it around.. a lot of people running L7's get the muddy sound... Idk what you are expecting as they aren't sq oriented.. they are mainly meant to get **** loud for cheap

L7 hater here.

Double check your box/driver parameters. I think that box may be too small for an L7.

The box is built to what Kicker says in the manual. .33 cu ft. %50 polyfill %100 airtight.

first off, thats just a reccomendation, i bet it models up differently in a box design program

second, I wouldnt seal an L7

third, dont expect much from a single 8" driver that is non-ported

You need a ported box.

Im going to build a ported box this weekend and if this little Fuccer dont impress me, To the classifieds it goes!!!! Any suggestions or ideas about how i should port it.? The sub has to face out the arm rest. My trunk is completely sealed off from the trunk. So Im not sure which way to face the port.:wallbash:

build a ported box, dont face it in just leave the center arm rest down. face it backwards. build it to the maximum size you can without the compromise of space... 1 cuft plus port and sub displacement. tuned around 38hz or so... should be ok. should sound loud... what kind of amp are you running?

Could you exit the port just under the sub?

I was thinking putting the sub lower and exiting the port on top.

I was also thinking sub facing out the armrest, like it is, and an aero port or two exiting out the rear deck.

It's a well known fact that L7s like larger, ported enclosures. No wonder it sounds like poo... its in a tiny sealed enclosure.

.33 does sound like a rather limited airspace even if they "recommend" that much.

Meet me half way and i'll take it off your hands, price?

Great Choice in amplifiers!

Should have went with an E8!

Get that L7 in a bigger ported enclosure, My 3 L5 8" sounded like **** in a sealed box once I had a ported box made for them it was like night and day difference.

you cant expect to put an l7 in a sealed box and expect it to sound good, it wont happen.. l7 is made for ported box, it is an SPL subwoofer and not SQ so dont expect good sound quality from it, although it will be a lot better in a little bigger box, one that is ported
