i made my own flares. they arent perfect but they are flared. i just used 6" pvc pipe. a heat gun , and a mold type deal... just heat up the end of the pvc then push it onto the mold and keep it there till it cools and it stays flared out.

what did you use for the mold?

You could probably use anything with a cone shape. You could probably do it with the bottom of a bowl. I'm not sure what happends to PVC when you heat it but it may be sticky so I would use some sort of lubricant or cover your molding object with painters tape or something. I'm also not sure how safe it is to heat/melt different types of PVC so I would look into that and probably wear a respirator.

I recall a long time ago seeing a site on google of how to do them. This was before I was really into car audio so I dont remember what forum it was on :crap:

Just try to get thin-wall PVC, the thicker pressure rated pipe is hard to mold

i like the oil heat method just not to shallow not to deep and push easy. mostly just make the flare in the wood, get a huge roundover bit

Yeah 45 dollars is cheap for a piece of plastic pipe.
Especially when you need 4 or more of them.

Not sure if it's been posted yet but this is the setup I used (http://www.subwoofer-builder.com/flares-25mm.htm)
Biggest problem I ran into was the flanges not sitting flat....that seemed to happen alot for some reason:(

what did you use for the mold?
like someone else said. the mold was just a piece of metal that was in a cone shape.. anything like that will work. ... somthing that should work could be a metal mixing bowl. like for cooking dinner.... just heat up the end up the pvc slowly until its like rubber. then press it over the round edge of the bowl and keep it there till it hardens and itll stay flared
