I am wondering what you guys think about these prefab boxes??? do you think i can get more outta this if i were to turn the box around or should i just build another box??? this is the box mounted in my wrx.... also my amp is mounted on the fold down armrest, there is a access hole so i was wondering if it would be more beneficial to turn the box around. Thanks guys....

Ahhh, you have the subaru, no?

The box is best built for the sub, not saying that yours isn't, but prefab boxes generally ****.

build another box...... NEVER GO WITH PREFABS!!! They limit the subs abilities

Is it a prefab box or a box that someone else has built? To build a new one you don't exactly have to make it bigger.

I have that piece of **** box sitting in my garage for over a year, IIRC its tuned to 45hz, I suggest building a new one.

ahh fellow sledgehammer owner. although i do love the magnet support lol im gonna get a new box made if it doesnt sell. trust me when i say you can get more output/better response from a custom designed box. i called mtx and even tehy say the sledgy is too small for the sub. they told me 4-5 cubes if i remember correctly for my 15 and the prefab is only like 2

i have the sledgehammer box. it's good build quality, but it's tuned WAY too high.

turn it around and try it. if you don't like it then build a new box.

edit: lovin the sticker on the window

sooo true, it doesnt like the lows, and i can never turn itup with songs that have a long low bass line cuz it sounds funky like its about to botto mout. if mine doesnt sell i was thinkn about going with a clamshell or snailshell watever you call it tuned to like 30-34.

yeah thanks! so how much bigger do you think i should go??? I know that my lil john cd used to bump harder when i had 1 15" in a sealed box, but my slash metal sounds incredible...

Is there a difference between the black & silver boxes, besides the color. Is one bigger or something?

dont put a 9500 in a prefab, or for that matter, any sub.

If that is a memphis 1100d, you need more power on that MTX. If you have the dvc 4ohm, you are only getting ~700wrms.

Try ~1000-1500wrms.

Also, try 2.5cuft w/ 35sq inches of port tuned to 35hz.

I currently have two Mtx 9515s with sledgehammer boxes. I might buy custom boxes tomorrow... Is this a good idea? Are custom boxes usually better than the sledge? I think the custom boxes are tuned @ 35hz btw.
