here's a poll to see what you do when your box build doesn't go as well as expected. enjoy folks and feel free to add horror stories. I know i have a few

Throw your box off of your third story apartment balcony, ask me how I know? very relieving though

the first and only time ive ever asked my g/f to help me lift a box into my truck (only did it to make her feel like she was helping, it wasnt that heavy)... we were about 5 feet from my truck and i hear "ow! ow! ow!"... the box was digging into her arm apparently from how she was carrying it and then she let it go and DROPPED IT ON HER FOOT!

it was a 4.5cf box with sub already installed (35lb sub) so probably ~100lbs total lol

yeah, i caught hell for that, and it wasnt even my fault.

Beat it to a pulp, salvage what you can, practice makes perfect, etc.

I've never really had a box go wrong..
not to the point where it needs to be scrapped.

how can that be possible?

ive seen somewhere measure out all their pieces late at night while very tired and wake up the next day and start cutting :crap:. luckily it wasnt my box :D. we had to use it for scraps and buy another sheet of mdf. it wasnt terrible, 1/4" max off, but that can be a huge problem still lol

yeah, but you're not scrapping a completed, or even started box in that case.

you've just added more scrap wood to the pile for other projects.

Sanding/wood filler works wonders.

Ive done that, it was really busy at work one day, flew threw like 3 designs and one of the 3 just didnt add up or make sense. I saved it by cutting down some other pieces.

As for build quality all my boxes come out great but they don't always perform as needed. Since I'm a spl competitor I'm always building and testing out different ideas. The boxes that don't work as well get ravaged for usable pieces/parts and then get dropped off at the dump. I'd rather throw it away than deal with selling it. It seems everyone wants my old spl boxes for free and I'll be damned if I'm giving those away. I'll burn them first.

if its for my car until I get some good equpiment I could give a **** if it looks good as long as it sounds good. If Im building for someone else Ill have them come look at it/hear it and its on them if they want it or not, if they dont I start throwin discounts at them to take it off my hands lol. Sadly the best box that I built was for me but didnt fit through the opening in my trunk

I've had to get out the file and belt sander before to take off 1/4" here and there..... if its gonna be obvious on the finished product I usually just scrap it. It wil bother me if the box isnt a nice tight fit.
