I recently upgraded the factory speakers on a 1995 lexus gs300 and went with 5.25 pioneers
these kind
http://cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-TS-A532P-5-25-3-WAY-200W-MAX-CAR-SPEAKER-NEW_W0QQitemZ170302496251QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Sp eakers?hash=item170302496251&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72:1205|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:1|2 93:1|294:50

But I havent been to happy with the sound quality

I was wondering what speakers yall recommend?

Thanks

For easy install, stick with coaxials like those. I prefer Infinity brand, some will differ. You can get the Reference line about as cheap as you can those Pioneers---and you will not be disappointed.

no hes not. at least when it comes to infinity.

nothing wrong with coaxs, as long as they have good crossovers. (and the driver itself is solid)

Wtf. That was weird. I quoted ur unedited post, and then your new post appeared. Now what I just said didnt make much sense.

Have you heard the reference components?

coaxials will be very disappointing. Try deadening your doors and installing a budget set of components

i've been to best buy.

Have you heard them before?

i've heard a pair of infinity 6x9s and they indeed ****. Perhaps i'm just wrong for reading too much into the thread title and thinking coaxials may not be the best choices

theres to many factors before making a statement like that. like is aid before, coaxs can be very solid.. my old memphis mysncs are still one of the best speakers i've ever heard. (granted they can be both)..

and listen, im not saying infinity is the worst brand, i just think theres better.. install > most speakers anyway

you apparently have a very low reference level and do not know what you are talking about

I have my doors deadened. I laid some damplifier on the rear deck.

I think my setup sounds great.

good for you, unfortunately that is not the topic at hand

Trey803

most important factors

1)proper install(deadener, baffles, sealed doors)
2)speaker location (imaging)
2)amplification
3)equalization
4)T/A
5) brand

sound deadener and components knock out 1 and 2 most important factors

I did indeed get confused.

OP, you could try stepping up to the pioneer D series. Ive heard good things about those speakers.

Or if you can find a set, the REV's.

I listed Infinity coaxials because it seems to me as if he is on a very tight budget.

I mean, sure, you can go buy JL Evolution ZR components, and sound better than any BOXED kit. But wtf @ 800 a pair?

I say get some Kappas or keep what ya got.

You aint gonna get alot of speaker for 30 bones mang.

lawl sorry there war eagle

In one of the threads someone recommended the "Focal" Brand of speakers, are they any good?
As far as budget goes, around 150 per pair of 5.25's

Etac

lol focal is very good.. very expensive also..

but then again dont listen to me

I didn't check the link, but he said high quality. Perhaps I should ask him what he considers to be high quality

Well, I am a noob when it comes to speakers, and I only bought the pioneers because pioneer makes decent Head units and so I figured the A series 3 way speakers would be good too. I mean don't get me wrong, they are decent, but I just want something with alot more clarity.

do you want coax or component set?

recommend stuff ive used before

for component set, look into the hertz esk130 i believe if your looking for 5.25 retail like 270$

for coax look into either ecx130(150$) or the hcx130(~200$)

both would highly benefit from an amp if you dont have one already

5 1/4 are small-ish speakers, so i dont know what your expecting form them, but for pretty much everything but bass, they sound excellent

Looking for Coaxials, I havent added an amplifier yet so the current pioneer 5.25(A series 3 way) are being powered by the Head Unit.
I was thinking of upgrading to the Pioneer Premier Ts-d502p to see if that would make a difference. But I am open to other brands/ suggestions
Here is the link for the pioneers,

Where can I buy Hertz?

bamaboy

hertz is very strict on internet sales, you migth come across some ebay here and there, need to find local dealer, call hertz and see, if none close there are a few on here that would sell them, i think 6spcoupe sells them if you dont have a dealer, not sure

hertz pops up on ebay every now and then

Since you want 5.25 anyways, I can hook you up with a barely used vintage pair of JBL GTO502. Just as good as anything else you could find then. I have no idea about shipping, though.
