Hello, trying to decide on a new set of components and have it narrowed down to the alpine spx-17pro or the focal 165 vrs which are going in my 09' wrx. what are your opinions on these which do you think I'll get more bang for the buck? I deff. like a nice tight snappy midbass and as far as my music selection well I just about listen to everything except country. As far as power I have memphis big belle which will have the 4ch bridged so I'll have 150watts per side at 4ohm for the front comp. and the deck (alpine 9887) will power the rear fill. The rear fill will include (if I go alpine ) 6.5 type s coax, (if I go focal) I will use the focal 165 cv1 coaxials.
As far as bass I'm running one of my IDMAX12's in a ported enclosure tuned to
32htz off the fifth chan. whould shoud be 6-700watts at 2ohm's
Thanks for helping me make up my mind,
all your sugg. will be greatly appreciated
Dave

Alpine spx-17pro up front Image Dynamics CTX65 coaxials in the rear.
Assuming your front doors are sealed and deadened.

I like my alpines, the tweets are fantastic. I'm pushing them with a jl 300/2

Thanks for the input guys, I decided on the alpines for the front. Was wandering if the image ctx6 are the same as the ctx65 (just slightly smaller in diam) turns out I can't fit the ctx65 with out sheet metal trimming???
Thanks,
Dave

Certainly, the ctx6 is fine if the ctx65 does not fit.

i have the older spx-177r and while i love the sound they are lacking a bit in midbass. i would buy them again in a heartbeat.

I run the SPX tweets and they sound VERY good. Haven't heard the mids...

Both the Alpine and Focal and nice sounding sets, i think the tweeter on the Focal set is a bit harsh for my taste.
