I have a 67 Shelby Cobra that has no tunes except the wonderful music of its engine and exhaust. My SO has been bugging me to change that. Unfortunately space is limited in the Cobra. I am looking for suggestions on speaker sizing and placement. And any other opinions as to what I can do to get a rocking system in the car.

There is a parcel deck in behind the seats. I was thinking a pair of 5 1/4"s and a 10" sub back there, a pair of 5 1/4"s under the dash.

Well I have an HU with a detachable face. I saw a cobra yesterday at the car show I went to. He had just the face in the cockpit and the rest of the deck in his trunk. I think I may try that.

I know the odds of this being original are very very rare, but if it is you better not cut it for a stereo. If your considering it, sell the car and get something else.

If this is a kit, which it looks like, then cut away

Either way, looks very nice. Whats engine/tranny/rear

Add on... get a fiberglass holder underneath to hold the deck, make fiberglass speaker kick pods, and I say fiberglass in either some 8's or some more full-range inbetween in the middle with the speaker aimed toward the driver / passenger head.

427CI Stroker made out of a 1969 Windsor. The last visit to the dyno threw 627Hp at the wheels. She can be mean...

Funny.. I have a banker friend that bought a real one last year.. Paid 800k for it.. He didn't have a problem cutting the dash up for his radio...

Yes, its a replica. But its a very nice ride, nice job OP. Like the stacks. Which rotating assembly/stroker kit are you using? I had an Eagle kit in a Windsor, made good power and was very streetable.

My God man! Did you have surgery I take it? Truely am sorry, but goes to show it didn't hinder you in anyway.

So as far as audio gear, how much money are you wanting to work with and what are your goals? You've got a ton of experts on here so...

I did have surgery... That pic is an CT scan of my skull after they rebuilt it with titanium and resin. they had to get it CAD/CAM built and flown in from some company in PA. I have an MRI of my head that shows the tumor.. It was huge. My post op experience has been pretty interesting.. I am much more with and smarter..

As far as cost goes. I like to live a little. The collection of toys I have is proof of that. A few grand wouldn't be out of the question.

I vote for a nice hu, decent pair of 6 1/2" components up front, and 8" sub and either a 3 or 5 channel amp to power components and sub.

it'll sound good and be easy to install. i also vote for a stealth install too.

i'll post some links to stuff i think you should get when i get home from work

Yes I built it.. I have pics of that too.. ;>) A kit is something delivered in a single box. Since this came in 100's of boxes from all kinds of places I prefer to call it an exercise in patience.

Yes but not an SO or SOHC.. However I am considering a Genesis motor for it.

So here is the area behind the seats..

http://pic1.picturetrail.com/VOL1160/3916675/9203580/354186662.jpg

It is 11" deep, 14" between seats and 11" high... I was thinking of the sub in there and maybe 2 speakers one on each side facing the occupants. I need to attention to the 5 point harness attachments and the roll bar. But I am open to ideas.. Maybe the sub should go in the trunk.. That pic is here..

http://pic1.picturetrail.com/VOL1160/3916675/9203580/354186632.jpg

Lots of room in the trunk.. Amp(s) on the back incline and maybe the sub on the side?

Thanks.. I've started with building fiberglass boxes for the speakers I am hiding under the dash first.. Then I am going to do the rear sub in the trunk. Someone I know gave me a bunch of Arc Audio gear so I will start with that and see how it sounds.
