Mah stuff has arrived!

Morel HU-621 mids
SEAS 27TFFNC tweeters
24 sqft of Damplifier Pro

The Mids kind of surprised me. A lot of people start these threads
and say they where shocked at how beefy the mid looks and feels.

This is the opposite, I'm shocked at how dainty the Morel mid feels.

mcsoul and his "dainty" mids :crap::laugh:

But the attention to detail and artistic design Morel engineers have is intoxicating.

I hope these features translate to the sound. I almost can't see how these things
are rated to take 160w nominal. Once I get it all installed and broken in I'll post a review.

And thanks to c3 customs who sold me the damplifier pro.

$89 each on sale! I could not resist.

I want peerless exclusive 7"s but they are a PIA in my
door (aka I got no skills).

Unfortunately, these need to LP at 3000. And the SEAS should
HP at 3000, but I really wanted to have the drivers flexible enough
to try it higher.

Because they have a 2.125" VC instead of the usual 1-1.5" found on 99% of 6.5" mids.

I guess the "hybrid" magnets cut down on the size usually associated
with a larger vc and high power handling.

I can't find a 4" I'd want to run. My HU only does 2-way, I'd have to do
some kind of passive crossover on one of the 2-way active legs. It just
wreaks of fail on my part somewhere.

Those went on sale after I purchased these, same price and they are in stock:fyi:

And they are hidden on the website, they are not listed under 6" woofers, only in the sale section.

They have an insane frequency response 20 - 5k

drama is selling his coustic crossover.

I bought a pair of Arc audio passives just in case I want to give it a try.
They are 4 ohm only so they will have to go on the "high" SEAS leg of
amplification. I think something small like a sealed back 2" dome mid.

Hopefully I'll just be satisfied with 2-way.

Thanks C3. It's going to be a few weeks before I get this stuff installed unless we
get a weekend in the 70's. Shoot me a PM if your ever headed up to Dallas.

I'm hearing 10 hours break in on pink noise is not a bad idea, anyone agree/disagree or think maybe longer?

Not in your car.

That's probably nearfield on-axis. Door location is at least 60* off axis for the driver's side. There goes part of your top end response.

Also, a 7" mid will start beaming around 2khz because that where the FR meets the cone diameter. This further limits the top end as beaming is narrowing of dispersion.

A couple solutions are to add a MR that plays as high as possible (flat to at least 10k) to eliminate the tweeter, go 3-way active up front, or move the mids to the kicks.

I have to say that ARC has great customer service. I payed next to nothing for some
used ACS-265 passive crossovers off of ebay and can't find any docs on them.

I emailed their support guy and he got back to me in 1 day with the answer.

3200Hz 12db crossover point
100w rms power handling.
Tweeters wired out of phase.

Anyone know what will happen to that crossover point if i wire
the 8 ohm Morels to the woofer output?

Or just don't do it.

Towncar

Dont do it.. Just run everything active...
