Friday night will probably be about $30. Saturday will be a tad more because you can earn points that night if you're a member.

I really encourage everyone to try it out, at least. I enjoy it a hell of a lot more than getting on the forums.

It's also a GIGANTIC custom car show, plus they have other stuff going on as well.

You can run S1 with the 3000 too. How much current you're pulling and what kind of score you can put up w/ a low current draw is what makes people successful in S1. Take the amp, you'll have fun man.

What all do I need to run that class? I will be wearin a shirt for my dealers business to kind of help promote him and will have the business cards as well.. He said somethin about that might affect my class?

dbeez
02-17-2009, 01:04 AM
well shirts wont be done unfortunately but since rules have changed so much it might not matter anymore i did find out the only fuse that matters is the one from last battery to amp..

What all do I need to run that class? I will be wearin a shirt for my dealers business to kind of help promote him and will have the business cards as well.. He said somethin about that might affect my class?

If you're sponsored you cannot run an amateur class.

jshak07
02-17-2009, 01:06 AM
but that is also the only place you can have a fuse installed.. no fuses under the hood or in front of the second battery unless you want them to count towards your fuse total..

Lakota
02-17-2009, 01:07 AM
Let me rephrase that. If you're sponsored you SHOULDN'T run an amateur class. I have a feeling that people were doing it last year, but none of the amateurs on my team got any discounts or anything on their stuff.

Lakota
02-17-2009, 01:07 AM
but that is also the only place you can have a fuse installed.. no fuses under the hood or in front of the second battery unless you want them to count towards your fuse total..

Fuses under the hood do not count. Only the fuse before the amp counts.

jshak07
02-17-2009, 01:07 AM
i wouldnt consider myself sponsored.. just tellin people those are his products and here is his info

jshak07
02-17-2009, 01:08 AM
Fuses under the hood do not count. Only the fuse before the amp counts.

so i can keep my (2) 300 amp fuses under the hood? I thought snoop said you couldnt have those or they would count towards your fuse total

dbeez
02-17-2009, 01:10 AM
the only fuse that counts is the fuse right before the amp..yes you can keep them..

Lakota
02-17-2009, 01:12 AM
Well that may be something that you should talk to Steve Stern about. Honestly, MECA is way too lax on the sponsorship rules. I think that the AS class in general is a bunch of bull.

Lakota
02-17-2009, 01:12 AM
I have 2 300A fuses under the hood :fyi: and a 5A fuse before the amp :)

jshak07
02-17-2009, 01:13 AM
If i run that amp snoop has to mine should i do 80 amps of fusing and run s2 or bump it down and run s1?

Lakota
02-17-2009, 01:18 AM
Either class you pick isn't going to be easy one bit. If you'd like to have a better chance of winning a world championship then I'd go the AS route. I have a lot of experience with working on AS cars :) Our AS1 and AS2 trucks won world finals last year.

FarrisAudio

jshak07

ya i mean i am amateur so i should run amateur street!! that is where you have to play music, car off, and no custom fuseblocks right? What is the fuse limits on as1 and as2?

Lakota

ya i mean i am amateur so i should run amateur street!! that is where you have to play music, car off, and no custom fuseblocks right? What is the fuse limits on as1 and as2?

I'd recommend doing it. The competition is easier and it'll give you time to get used to competing. Yeah, no custom fuse blocks. The fusing limitations is the same for S1 and S2.

jshak07
02-17-2009, 01:31 AM
ok so with (1) 35 amp fuse i could run AS1 and with (2) 40 amp fuses I could run AS2. Can you run 2 classes at the same event?

Lakota
02-17-2009, 01:50 AM
ok so with (1) 35 amp fuse i could run AS1 and with (2) 40 amp fuses I could run AS2. Can you run 2 classes at the same event?

I forgot what the rule is for that. I know each class you run you must pay for. You can't run two classes for the price of one. But if I'm not mistaking, I think that a car is only allowed to rule one spl class during the show. If you own multiple cars you can run different classes. Read through the rule book, it's a better source than me:)

jshak07
02-17-2009, 01:54 AM
with that autotek from snoop the nightsshade would be wired at 1 ohm so around 1400 watts.. i will probalbly take him up on that.. might not do to bad.. And I will just run whichever Amateur class I fit in with (2) 20 amp fuses

dbeez
02-17-2009, 01:54 AM
13. Competitors may only compete in one (1) “Pressure Class” per Format (i.e. SPL, “Drive-by SPL Parade”, or

With a single 15, in AS1 you get 40 or 50 amps of fusing with in 20"in of the amp. I forget because its been 2 years. Either way i could play on 40 amps all day. Maxi's were the best.

you should make your own fuse block to accomodate 3 60 amp fuses. Fuse types that are popular are ANL, MIDI, MINI, AGU .... no maxi fuses allowed.

Besides, with the fuse limitations you don't need to use custom blocks anymore really.

the Carl Casper rules are totally unrealistic and makes the car audio compeition not worth attending anymore.

Add me to the list of "never returning" competitors because I'm sure as hell not paying $50 for one run ever again.

I don't know how many times I got asked "when does the competition start?", and I really didn't have an answer for them. There's nothing more lame than a stereo show at which you cannot play your stereo.

x2 I went Friday and Saturday and joined MECA as a member so i had over $100 invested in the show and than on saturday I even paid $10 for a second run! in the second run that I paid extra for, i beat for maybe 2-3 seconds before the amp shut down and I was thinking well ***** maybe they will let me charge up and try again but nope, said sorry and went on, and ***** there was still like 6 hours left and they had already done everone's SPL runs!!

jeez this show has been like this for years, most shouldnt be surprised and yet many will be back in spite of the lameness

When I did this show in '07, reruns were $5 and we did have some set time to demo, albeit only a few minutes. And we were allowed to have our cars on for the run (though that was in the broadbent arena which has a much higher ceiling).

The show wasn't what it once was. As I said on the MECA forum, how come when I walked through the rest of the show there were cars with their stereos on the whole day?

Attendance has dropped off every year as well. And who can blame them. Spending that much money on a show to only get one measly run and then afterwards you're locked in the building for 8 hours and you can't even hear other people's setups.

It seems as though the people who run casper makes rules specific to the meca side of the show just to make things less interesting/attractive.

I personally think it's time for MECA to move on, it's pretty evident that casper isn't too interested in keeping the meca side show alive and growing.

The car show would have been worth the drive. :)

I rushed through a majority of it and it still took me a half hour.

If you really walked through everything and took pics, you could have spent a couple hours in the show part.
