They were made in Japan. That made them expensive. None of them have much adjustability by todays standards, but they are well built and have generally higher quality components.

Yeah, there's a market...some diehard fans and stuff....The amps never sell well though.

I just picked up a few of the amps, yet to install them PA-301 I got 2 of em cheap.
As far as the HU's go. They are geared towards SQ. They have great processing.

one thing about them, if they are a japan or Euro model, it may not pick up some of the FM freqs we use in the states.

I owned a Nak CD-45z a couple years ago. (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/123950/6) Really smoooth, clean HU. Didn't have any processing, xovers, or sound shaping features like today's HUs. Just delivered the signal pure and uncolored. It's CD mechanism was very picky though. Didn't like to play CD's that were even slightly scratched. Skipped easily, and wouldn't recognize some brands of CD-Rs. It's sound quality made up for it though.

Not sure what the new models are like...

The CD400 is still my favorite HU that I've used to date.

If the CD mechanism didn't **** ****, I'd still be using it.
