L x W x H / 1728
12 x 12 x 12 / 1728 = 1ft^3
Be sure to take the thickness of wood into consideration. So if using standard 3/4" material, and your length is 35", it becomes 34.25" in your equation.
So a 12 x 12 x 12 box is 1ft^3 external, and
11.25 x 11.25 x 11.25 = .8239ft^3 internal (worry about this measurement).

Wouldn't the measurements turn into 10.5 x 10.5 x 10.5? Don't you count both sides?? Have I been doing it wrong all these years???
