Fart box

I hate to sound like a noob, but How is a "fart box" different than a regular ported enclosure tuned high?
More port area?

A high tuned box is considered a fart box. Meant to play only one note. Which tuning high does.

Your typical drop-in type fart box is also very small with a lot of port area.

Well also, fart boxes usually have SPL subs, and with a little box, you can usually send more power to them. Thats another reason for the low volume.

i use to have one of those boxes,it gave me headaches,i'll never go back to boxes that are less than 2 cubes tuned to 35-38hz

yea, normally small box, lots o port. I've made a few tuned to upper 40's, low 50's. Still didn't sound to bad in a daily environment, but I know there are boxes tuned to upper 60's low 70's

A fart box is where you fart into the box before mounting the sub. Farts have higher density than normal air and will pressurize the cabin more when you burp the box (where you burp into the port (helps if you have a few friends burp too for the larger ports) and then quickly play your peak freq and get a meter reading)

Any box and woofer combo with a severe peak in the response curve. aka a one note wonder, often seen burping in the high 40's on a tone with big square subs and several thousand watts. Living loud as they say.

A box that has a huge frequency peak. My fart boxes typically peak lower than others.
