2.278 cu. ft tuned at 32 hz with 33.75 sq in of port area?

Should i make the box a little smaller? Change the port area?

not bad. i would do a little higher tuning on the port for a kicker sub. maybe 35-38. but no sub sounds bad tuned to 32hz. you might get a little more output with a 38hz tuning.

That's net, and i was surprised too, but it seems the kicker L7 likes a big box. i took the specs from the kicker website

Yeah, I'd recommend tuning a tad higher unless you want to play nothing but low notes.

anyone who says they like smaller boxes, hasn't heard them in a bigger box. they do very well in a bigger box. it's one of kickers disadvantages IMO. big box subs. put that 10 in about 2.25 cubes tuned to 34-38hz, and you'll like it.;)

Kicker has specs for a street bass box for my 2004 model of the sub. The box is 1.75cf. They also list a 1.25 and 2.25. For the 2006 they only show the 1.25 and 2.25 in their manual. I'm sure you can use the 1.75cf box for the 2006 also.
I built the 1.75 box and it was good. The 2.25 is listed as a deep bass/SPL box.
Not sure how music would sound with that big of a box.

music sounds good in 2.25. it's only an spl box if you tune the port high, but 2.25 cubes tuned to 35hz or so sounds nice. i did L5 10's awhile back in 1.75 cubes and it did sound good, but if you have the space, i would recommend 2.25. i'm more of a heavy metal/rock guy, so i'd probably drop volume down to 1.75-2.0 to maybe improve accuracy a little.

the box size really depends on power i would do 1.5-1.75@34-38hz if i were u

OK, so i've decided to make the box 2.075 cu. ft. @ 34 hz with 35 sq in of port area.

What power should i be looking at to throw at it? 650?

Here's a picture of it (i used RE Audio Box Calculator)

id really consider 1.75 with 600 watts

Why? i thought they were underrated. Im not set in stone with the box, i just thought it'd be better to throw a bigger box at it.
