Can you guys post up some pics and diemensions of your boxes. I can't really measure it right now, my truck is all gutted inside.
I have the 94, so 94+ please.

No blowthroughs

Um, I did a box for my budies 03 regular cab s-10. Did 4 12" kicker CVT's. Very tight on space. I believe the box was 8.75 inches at the bottom, 3.5 inches at the top, 16 inches high, and I believe it was 52inches long

Hmm.. any perticular setup your wanting to do? In a truck like that it would seem more logical to use shallow mount subs cuz I know there isn't enough depth for a sub like in your avatar. My 97 GMC sonoma whish is pretty much a S-10 has(did have) a blow-through. I went through all kinds of boxes behind the seats. Never found what I was looking for so I cut it up. But then I sold it :(

Yeah, I think the total volume I had in the one I built was like 1.7 cubic feet. I put about 15 pounds of poly fill in that **** thing.

Yeah, my buddie was short as **** so thats all we could do. Had to mount his PDX-1000 under the drivers seat and his ZX-300.4 undrer the passenger seat.

i used to have a reg cab sonoma, i had 4 10"s in a box that was 51" wide, ~21" tall, 4" top depth, 10" bottom depth. it took up a ton of room, and still wasnt really enough airspace for 4 10"s sealed. I would suggest a box with a bottom depth around 7" and top depth around 3", 51" wide, and maybe 16-18" tall. that should be enough for 2 nice 12"s

It's going to be very hard to get that to fit

I don't have the stock seat, I'm currently fabbing up some brackets to fit 1st gen Prelude buckets in it. I don't care if it comes up past the window line.
These subs have no pole vent also, so... they can be close to the back wall.

Any ideas anyone?

I'd do a blowthrough but I don't know if the gasket is re-usable. I will have to pull the bed off to fix the fuel sender, and eventually will have to pull it off to install bags... so I don't know if I can re-use the accordian gasket..

They are re-useable if you put them on right and just dont foam around them like I did. you could also get some 16gauge bent steel to just snap right in there. Thats what I have and it makes swapping out boxes a breeze.

prettymuch you gotta do a blowthrough if you want to fit anything decent in it, if you had a ext cab maybe you could get away with it but ....yeah theres no room

its an F150, I did have a blow-through in my Sonoma, it was killer but I sold it so I could have more cut-out room:

Been looking for a post on this. I am wanting to do something custom in my 99 S10 reg cab. I have two Kicker CVX 12's. I am pretty good at fabrication, have built dozens of boxes, and am getting better and better at fiberglass. I defintely dont want to do a blowthrough, as I need the bed for my Busa. I just installed some mid 90's S10 buckets, and plan on going to Cav seats soon. I am tall, so I was thinking of trying to build a wild fiberglass something with one sub just in front of the seats, partially under the dash. And one in the back in between the seats. With a console in between them and the amps behind the seats.
I just need to know what yall think, and if you know of any pics/links that could give me some ideas or inspiration. Thanks.

Isn't the gap in between the cab and bed a 'flex point'? Wouldn't that metal being in there **** it up?

Did you make a full 'rectangle' or did you bolt it in like that?

It flexes a little but not much.. Its not like your gonna take it 4 wheeling or rock crawling. It maybe flexes at most 1/8th of an inch if even that.. Also its bolted in at the top and the sides have selft tappers through it and the seems where it comes together was welded up. Also once you put a box in there it wont flex that much if even at all.

i had a reg cab dakota and did 1 12 between the seats and i removed the console and put my amp on the floor and the sub between the seats. and i cut the hole to close to the bottom so the magnet was hitting the bottom piece so i had to get a couple of mdf rings to space it out

This could be an option:

Its center console for a DD9512

I got a set of Honda Prelude buckets I'm putting in mine, I don't think I will have any room behind the seats and theres not much space between the seats for a console box, plus its a 5spd.

I'll grab some pics of the Prelude seats. I think I'll be doing the metal like you have done..
But did you make it a 'full rectangle' or did you leave one 'end' open?

MMkkay sorry there phone pics. Seats aren't 100% in yet because I have to fix the crack in my floor.

In this pic, see how one end is 'open'? Did you put it in the truck like this, or did you make it a full rectangular shape..?

01-25-2009, 05:55 PM
Oh I see.. I had to leave it open like that so all the pieces would fit. The bottom looks like this:

I think I will do it like you got. I'm just worried about it flexing.
Did you bolt it or use sheetmetal screws?

TnT_Sounds
01-27-2009, 03:04 AM
Just pop rivets actually.. I live on one hell of a bumpy road and I have no flex issues.

Gearstix
01-27-2009, 03:10 AM
Hmm. I'd need it to be removeable. I'd maybe rivit it to the cab and bolt it to the bed...
I don't really want to get rid of my subs so..
