Are the alpine comp sets decent? I was thinking about the type r's. I know they make great subs for the money. Just wanted to know from some guys who have had some experience. Anything better for the money?

there worth the money, i used to have the type s comps and they were good, so the type r's should be plenty loud.

Well, are you wanting loud or to sound good?
The Type R components that I've heard didnt sound all that great. Dont get me wrong, werent horrible, but didnt sound as good as I had hoped.
On the other hand, they did get fairly loud.
What's the budget bossman and what do you want, loud or clear or as close of a mixture of both as you can get?

Uh, well i want them to blare and sound good but you can't have both. So i guess loud, plus i **** at tuning anything. Its not a muddy, stock speaker sound we are talking about right?
Oh, never worked with comps... Are the tweeters a separate channel?

Ah, I can't seem to find the 6 1/2'' sets on ebay. Just the 5 1/4'' Why would the 6.5'' be the same price on alpines website?

You can have both for about 1500 dolalrs with IDXS mids and Ultra horns.
There is a crossover that you run the power from the amp into then it has two outputs one for mid and one for tweeter.
