I'm about to order a tv later today. I'm upgrading from a 32" Sharp. I wanted a +40". I've found 2 1080p models that I've pretty much narrowed it down to. Which would you go with?

one of my parents friends sells tv's for a living..

he told me that in general, the 3 S's are the best quality build you can get out on the market for mid sized tv's 32-47" ish..

those 3 S's are : sony, samsung, and sharp... ive got myslef a sharp 32" that i just bought from him about 2months ago, great looks, too bad my remote was thrown away and so happened to get puked on at a party...lol

The Samsung is the TV I have in my bedroom and I absolutely love it. Has a really good picture and the PS3 and 360 look amazing on it. I would definitely go with the Samsung out of the 2 you listed. I looked for a new TV for a while before I purchased mine and the only TV I saw that I personally thought had a better picture was the Sharp Aquos TV's but they were a little out of the price range.

LCD's FTL.

You must not realize how much lcd's have advanced from the past. High end lcd tv's are getting better with the dark's and when 240 hz comes out, Then it would be LCD ftmfw

CRT VS 120hz LCD

LCD's will ALWAYS suffer from lag and motion blur. a total bummer for fast paced video games.

CRT FTW!

240hz ftw

i'll keep my CRT until it dies. hopefully by the time it does die they will have something better out there. what the pictures in that link i posted show are unacceptable to me, especially for gaming.

what good is 1080p (over 1080i) when you have lag and motion blur like that?

copied and pasted from that same thread:

"Also, I don't know if it has been mentioned yet but improving motion performance by reducing the duty cycle comes at the cost of introducing flicker. CRT might have the best motion performance but also has the most obvious flicker. The tradeoff will always exist unless massive amounts of interpolated frames are used.

For instance a 240Hz LCD with interpolation will have great motion performance without any flicker but it also means that 90% of the frames will be calculated when fed a 24Hz signal(yikes)"

yes it was, that is true. but if you watch the the two quick little videos you can see how jumpy the lcd is compared to the crt. the crt looks really clean smooth while the lcd looks a bit jumpy.
