look into eclipse, alpine and pioneer head units. You will want something with at least 4 volt preouts since they are cheaper now, but 2 volt pre outs will work too. Almost anything alpine and pioneer make are pretty nice, at least the newer stuff. All the information will be in the specifications either on the website you buy from or the box.

The higher the pre out voltage the better, remember that when looking because it is the very important as to how well your amps work and speakers sound.

now im reading is something about the wattage, does it matter for the HU?

Please don't listen to this knucklehead. Preout voltage does not matter, just set your gains correctly. Something that has 4v preouts like the Alpine 9887 will likely be very similar to something like an Eclipse deck with 8v preouts. Also, I think many people would agree that older Alpine > newer Alpine. If you have an amp, don't worry about your HU's power. Just use it for rear fill, if anything. I doubt having a few extra watts will make a big difference, anyway.

Do you want USB? iPod control? Bluetooth? Motorized face? EQ options? AUX input (perhaps on front)? Which brand's looks do you prefer? What's the budget? There's other good brands out there like Panasonic and Clarion, as well.

Basic deck that may work for you: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_099CD3100/Eclipse-CD3100.html?showAll=N&c=3&tp=5684&avf=N

This.

Any real "name brand" company won't do you wrong. If you aren't going to get real into car audio, than any one will do... and no matter what people tell you... pre-out volts don't really mean much.
For lower pre-outs you have to put your gain up more on your amp... but that doesn't effect anything. That's why your amp has a gain knob to begin with.
I, of course, would rather go with 4 over 2... but if you find a unit you like in your price range that has 2, don't hesitate.
There is no correlation between distortion and pre-out voltage.

Some good companies are Pioneer, Alpine, Eclipse (like he said), and Kenwood is also another company that won't do you wrong.

If you're going to really get into car audio, it's better to go with an Alpine unit or a Pioneer unit. They seem to be popular. I love my Pioneer DEH-P6900UB.

i personally prefer Kenwood Excelon
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?Source=googlebase&ProductID=19512
this hu has everything you will need and is a great price for all the feature it has.
you can get an in dash kit depending on what car you have so you can mount the single din unit in the 2din hole.
i think single din look nicer unless you prefer the double.
all the equipment you listed is pretty low value list.
let me know what your budget is and what kind of result you need
ill try to help you as much as i can since I've been looking around for a system for quite awhile and just got everything together.
