also should i go with a 2.55 cubic ft or 2.72 cubic ft ported box? is .17 going to make a huge difference?

oh and what should i tune the port at? 28hz is recommended for the 2.55, i like the idmax for the sq/spl but im a little more towards the spl so should it be tuned somewhere in the 30's?

thats a fair price for a good built box around here.. I charge like 100 a box for a regular sized box but a "real shop" in town STARTS at 300 a box.. so who knows..

my boxes are like 200 plus ship. 300 for a shop is resonable

so will 32hz allow me to keep some SQ and have a little bit more of SPL?

Building is cheap... it's the shipping that costs a lot.

My rule of thumb is, a box under 3.5 cuFt is one sheet of wood.
That's $28 bucks... then $20 bucks for carpet, and that's not really including the glue, adhesive, and silicone.
So, that person's only making $20 bucks or so.

i agree. i charge 150$ for 2.0-3.0. 175$ for 3.0-4.5.

i got the point on the cheap part. but as far as the port... is 32hz for the port good for a little bit of SQ and a bit more SPL than 28hz?

32 is fine in almost any application

I would not fear 28hz with the idmax 12, at 32 you'll get like
an extra 1db in the mid 40hz range, but lose more in the 20's.

You need to worry about port area, shoot for 3x12.5; which will
be very long internally 33" for 32Hz and 45" for 28hz.

Also remember 2.5 cubes is after woofer and port displacement, if not
the tuning is all off.
