Well, I'm currently running what is in my sig. I, like everyone else, want to improve my midbass. I am getting another 36sqft of damplifier pro to seal up the doors. I want to keep the price under $200 for a pair of 6.5" mids with 40rms @4 ohm or 50rms@2ohm. Honestly, the CDT set that i am running sounds pretty darn good to me compared to a few other sets around town. They get plenty loud for me with this power, but i would like to be able to drop my hpf to 63hz. I might can play around with the tuning a little more and get them to play, but i am looking to switch up the mid. Any suggestions?

Just from looking on wooferetc i like the ID CX62... should i look elsewhere?

try out the m6 from cdt of the m6+ with the drt 26 tweet there is a combo like that supposed to play low and handle lots of power u should up the power buy my zx850.4 i got on a set of the cdt cl-62cf comps giving them 175rms per side and they scream

Is upping the power necessary if i already think my current setup gets plenty loud with only 40rms?

You say M6>CX? More likely CDT>ID?

you need to power them better, get an amp that does 125x2 and you will be very impressed.

and why are you sending quality speakers 40 watts anyway?

no, but they are supposed to be better than some $400 dollar components and are probably the best SQ speakers for the price.

Honestly I am trying to upgrade because i am thinking of loosing the sub.... Not sure why, but i think i will be happy with just a good front stage.

I could bridge the alpine for the tweets and pick up a diff 2 ch. for the mids and deaden/seal the balls out of my doors. I wouldnt mind doing that.

I'll just add, comps in the doors and deff. dependent on the install.

well, bottom line is that you have to get more amplifier power before you upgrade your speakers. Spend that 200 bucks on a good amp that does 100-150 rms and you will be set.

that setup right there is killer but u dont have that budget
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=5775

but cheaper to go with
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=5574
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4848

and the tweet that will play low enough for this combo
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4883

and run active or if u need a xover get this
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4568

deff out of your budget but that would be a kill comp setup

I'd say just deaden & seal the sh*t out of your doors to start.
If your still not satisfied...up the power.
Then if your still not happy...mid upgrade.

I have the CL61's on one of my cars and the midbass is kickin hard, not sure why yours are not producing plenty of midbass. I have the entry level ID CTX comps in my other car and those have excellent midbass as well.

If you want insane midbass maybe you can fit the M6plus mids in your doors otherwise the CXS line have crazy midbass as well.

Seal up and deaden the doors as well as possible, that's probably where you're lacking. Just because the output isn't what you hoped for doesn't mean the driver is at fault. You really need to take in the whole situation before you fault the speaker. Seal up your doors, make sure a proper baffle is used, even some closed cell foam the hinder road noise (that detracts from clarity as well). If you still aren't satisfied then consider a swap.

Also, don't expect out of this world midbass from a 6.5" driver that you not only want to play down to 63hz, but also up to 3k+ hz. Everything is a trade off in this game, I'd rather have a clean midrange than a bottom heavy mid that ***** above 1khz. Don't forget that you can also EQ in some of the lower octaves. A dedicated midbass never hurts either, though I'm sure you don't want to dive into something like that just yet.
