Don't know what happened to my first post but apparently this is it now...

Putting my MB Quart components in my new car but I'm not amping them this time. Do I need something to act as a high pass filter? My headunit is a clarion filp out dvd player

Do you want bass blockers? You can get them at like circuit city.

It's not necessary but it will help your speakers not get as distorted at higher volumes.

my speakers do have crossovers but I'm not sure if those do anything to filter out the low end...

They should, shouldn't they? That's the whole point of having crossovers

idk i always thought the crossovers were just for splitting the incoming full range signal between the mid and tweeter

I thought they also worked at filters too.

They should do that, too. But they should also filter out anything too low for the mid.

ok thanks for the clarification. I was just asking because while setting the gains on my subs my shitting stock speakers were trying to play the 50hz test tone....which killed one of em lol

there is a hpf on the clarion headunit. I think you got two choice: 80hz or 120hz
