View Full Version : ID OEMS - They live up to the hype, no doubt!

Just got them installed, and crossed them at 80hz with a 12db slope for the low end and 2,000 for the high end....holy ****. These aren't even "broken in" yet and they SLAM, midbass is so strong/tight you can feel it in your chest, and all three of my mirrors move. My doors are covered inside and out with Damplifier/Pro and partially sealed...

I have the gain set where I had my Dayton RS180's (except they were crossed at 80hz with 18db slope), and the OEM's are just soaking up the power like it's nothing (125 rms to each mid). I can get so much volume out of them, something that couldn't be said with the Daytons all the time.

Holy crap. I thought my Daytons hit hard, but there is absolutely NO comparison.

:D

Active FTW! :veryhapp:

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I know! Wish I would have bought them from you a few months back..but I has no monies at the time. :crap:

They sound "better" crossed at 2,000 instead of 2,500 like you suggested, any reason why? I have my tweeters crossed at 2,500 for the low end (Blaupunkt VC100's) and they loooooove it.

Cool. The VC100s/Id Oems are a nice combo. You should hear them with more power:)

TCGuy has had really good experence with the Seas Neos with his.

If your on a tighter budget, the Blaupunkt VC100s work well too.

Probably because they don't have to work an extra 500hz? lol.

With a 12db slope, you're still hitting those higher notes.

What slope are your tweeters at? 18 or 12?

i should have called those to mix with my vc-100, but i don't have an active hu

Mine were taking ~125wrms 63hz @ 24db. They would even take it down at 50hz but theres just no point to play them that low for the most part.

Have mine at 80hz @ 12db now. They sound the best for me here and they dont struggle at all down low.

Send HessDawg a PM, he sells them BNIB for $90 shipped.

And Alex, I'm not sure what my slope is for my tweets, it's w/e you told me to set it at a few months ago.

But yeah the ID OEM mids w/VC100 tweets is an EXCELLENT combination, it's amazing how good the tweeters sound for only being $20.

Just got back from a 30 minute drive, listening to all types of music, and the ID's are sounding better as each song goes by. Listened to everything from Trapt, Tool, Puddle of Mudd, and Jeezy's new song - "Amazin'" - which sounds incredible.

I can't imagine sending these beasts any more power, it's unreal how rich and full they sound as it is, with my gains conservatively set on my amp. I don't think I'm going to change a thing, but in a week or two once the spiders have loosened up some more I may try them at 63hz with an 18db slope and see how they like it.

ID makes a hell of a product, and HessDawg is a FANTASTIC person to do business with. :)

I got the last set on Ebay for $30 shipped, but about a month later the seller re-listed them and had like 5 pairs in stock. But for about a month they weren't anywhere to be found, I know because my buddy wanted a pair like none other after hearing mine, and we searched for hours, but then just a few weeks ago he found them....:p:

Check Ebay every now and then, they should show up. :D

This is kind of a thread dump.... but, Hessdawg must be making bank off those OEM's. He's been selling them for months now and it seems like everyone and their mother has bought a pair. I wonder how much he's made off selling them. And where the hell did he get them if he's not a dealer?

I'm liking mine as well. I have them high passed at 80hz and low passed at 1.25khz (don't remember the slopes). They make the chrome side moldings on the exterior of the door rattle pretty badly. (I have the inner and outer door skin deadened)

Hope this isn't considered a post dump or thread crapping but is this really a good deal when you consider you have to buy a crossover and tweeters (if going for a component set)?

I would really be interested in these but am not sure what a good tweeter and crossover adds to the cost.

What tweeter/crossover do you guys pair these with?

lots of people arent concerned about them being a good deal. if they were theyd buy a set of cheapo $60 coaxials instead of going active with these.

active.

So, running active would take care of the crossover, right? Just got to make sure my headunit can handle running speakers active, I guess?

How about a tweeter? Something smooth and crisp, not harsh?

I would find a tweeter that can be crossed around 2khz. Look into the Peerless HDS.

Honestly, its not as hard as you would think my friend. Just a little trial and error, and using the best tuning tool you have......your ears :D

Ah no that HU would do active. I know I have the same one. You could always get a external crossover that would do the same thing, like a Memphis or Audiocontrol or just use amps with the processing built in, like the Sundown 100.4 or DD S4.

Vocals sound clear and crisp. A very nice sounding driver IMO. But, if your looking for screaming mids, its not going to be these speakers. Their mids are loud, just not screaming in a sense. It sounds like some type of PA speakers would be more up your alley.

I know, I just hate to spend the money on the active deck and not be happy or have a hard time getting the sound I am looking for. And I know I could always go the crossover route in the amps, but my crossover in my clarion amp blows for some reason. I guess I could get an external and go that route.

I got lost on my PRS-880 and that was Passive, lol!

I have a set of ID CTX crossovers if anyone wants them $15 shipped. I used them when I was running my OEMs and CTX tweets passive. Worked great. PM me if interested. I also have a set of the MPyre Xovers as well which cross the tweet slightly lower than what the CTX Xovers do.
