This is the deck I use to run back in the day.....a Premier DEX M88 it has the fiber optic outputs and was one of the best SQ decks you could get....It used a separate Super Tuner IV tuner module that picked up the most distant stations...a great piece in old school car audio.....

"This HU puts out 3V with impedence output of 4 Ohms only. Lowest
impedence HU ever built. One of the last head units with a discrete power supply. No tuner. An external tuner was optional. The optical is a bit sensitive to vibration. So, securely mounting the HU is critical. MSRP in 1991 $900.00"

$ shipped to 59405?
j/k, I would really like to pick up something like that. They may have all sorts of new gadgetry, but some of the older decks lasted forever and had superb sound quality.
I hate how most of the newer stuff is aimed at just being loud or flashy. I still run my 960 just because it has so many tuning options and it has great SQ for what it is. Sounds so much better than so many of the newer HU's I have no reason to replace it.

this one still works but it does need to have some minor things looked at...i think the contacts need cleaning...you have to press down just a little for the display to work...it still reads disc but sorta picky...could be the face issue though....i may try and have the contacts cleaned...but they look ok to me....

I am new to this forum and I competed for many factories in the 90's. My 63 Galaxie was featured in the June 1996 issue of Car audio.. I own an M88 a tuner pack and m6 changer.. It was the best HU I ever used in that car.. I had 3 7909's fail on me.. The M88 was and still is amazing.. I gave that last 7909 to Mark Eldridge for free... When we were both on Kicker.. We also represented the expert class for MTX before that.. I was 1-500 expert. and he was 501 up.. That unit saw one season before Nakamichi sponsored me with the music bank stuff... I may consider selling it if the price is right... Thanks Jay
