I noticed a lot of interest on here and just wanted to share my experience after replacing my Hertz HSK165 with these. I am not an expert nor do I claim to be, this is just the differences I experienced in my car.

2000 Acura Integra GSR
Gear: Alpine 9885, ARC KS 300.4, Morel Tempo 6.

Right off the bat I noticed that the Midbass was more full and able to hit the lower notes where my HSK lacked. I have them crossed at about 60hz and they are begging to go lower. I put the volume to 20 and enjoyed the detailed tweeter which wasn't harsh at all.. Usually around volume 18 the HSKs would bother me a tad and I'd have to back off. The Tempos' tweeter and mid-bass blend together well and have a very natural sound. Appearance wise, they aren't eye candy by any means, but that didn't matter to me since it would be behind the door and away from sight. I would suggest running them with a minimum of 100wrms-200wrms.. Obviously headroom is nice but they seem to like what I am giving them right now :)

I am completely satisfied with my UPGRADE from the HSK165 and recommend it for anyone looking for a nice budget component set. I am happy with my more detailed tweeter, more full and responsive midbass, and an overall more blended component set.

Hope this helps some of you guys looking for components out there!

I actually helped him put these in etc... He just wanted a basic setup.. Nothing too extreme like deadening or deflex pads etc etc.. Just something temporary until he went all out and we are both EXTREMELY happy with the results as always!

nice, I was considering the hsk's but made my mind up on the morels a few weeks ago. Good to hear though, just another reason to grab a set

I myself was thinking about going with the hsk but after this review I'm gonna have to change my mind and go with the morel tempo 5.

Just curious, is the amp bridged?

Yeah his amp is bridged but set moderately. I like to work with headroom and the components liked up to about 35-45% gains.

Is there anything special about the mids in this set? Boy these really seem to be the boner lately...

I like them. They claim to drop to 40 hz which I will test when the door is properly deadened and sealed. For now, they definitely drop lower than anything I've thrown in there and give great output with the power I am giving them. I don't give 2 shits about forum boners. Whats good is good and this set is legit.

Apparently you like boners too Mr. ID OEM mids

I see you mistook my post for one of facetiousness...I simply meant are these a SOTA type driver, ie., something from the top end of Morel's lineup? High xmax, low distortion design with shorting rings, etc. I wasn't dogging them at all, just too lazy to research the midwoofer. Sorry. BTW I got my OEMs after I blew my CTX mids because they were dirt cheap and I am swapping them out to Mpyres tomorrow, and have sold the OEMs. I hope I am not making a mistake. I was asking about the mids in your set because I was kind of interested in trying them.

Nah, I was just poking fun back thats all =P.. Nothing personal.. These are Morel's entry level component set. Don't let that fool you though, they are amazing..

After a couple days of driving (I drive a lot to and from school), the speakers have broken in and really filled up the car with nice midbass... It just seems like they are putting out more now than when I first installed them.

Does Morel make the Pulse 6 anymore or have those been phased out completely now?

Phased out. The Tempo 6 is a completely revamped/better version of the pulse. They will be releasing the even more budget minded component come 2009 I believe.

does the tempo 6 fit a standard 6.5" mounting/baffle?

lol, but the raving reviews are from guys who haven't even got any deadening in their doors

I expect they're decent for the $$...i also expect they aren't all that and a bag 'o chips when compared to others in the pricerange in a proper install...i am sure they do fine though.

Sorry I didn't update this thread. I deadened the doors and it made a world of difference .. The midbass lives up to its reputation... It increased in overall output, response, and gets quite a bit lower now on songs that take it there. I guess I'll keep updating as I drop the xover some more and see how they like it... I am somewhere in-between 50-60hz right now.:veryhapp:

How much power are you giving your tempo 6's? I'm gonna get some and give them 250 rms. Is that a good idea?

How do you compare the Morel Tempo 6 to JBL 608Gti MKII and Focal 165VR? I know they are all in different price range but just want to have an idea about the sound quality/performance.

I went from a hertz ep4, to a arc ks 300.4 back and forth... They love the 350x2 rms but obviously the gains are set conservatively.

I have not heard those speakers so I cannot compare them. These are VERY nice though..

Mine went in almost a week ago, they are starting to break in pretty nicely too. Ive got 304x2 to play with for them, right now I set the gains with the dmm to feed 120 (1khz tone), i dont think they are ready for a lot more yet. I'd really like to get my hands on a pg 200.4 xenon though and go active with these. even 120 watts to a tweeter can be painful

I just bought these a few days ago. Im running m stsem active using a clarion.
To me, they dont really sound bright at all ! The midrange is killer on these, but midbass lacks.

For those of you running them active, what do you have your x-overs and slopes set to ?

btw, Heres a video and pics of my setup:
Taken with a cheap 8 year old Sony digicam..LoL

morel has very low xmax numbers and uses very low crossover points with there tweeters.. im shocked you perfer the morels.. i honestly think the hertz where not installed properly or had an issue.. last time i heard the morel sets i was so glad i got the CDT set.. much better lowend definition at high volume and i felt the morels just didn't have the air or detail up high.. the CDTs are already abit on the dull side as compared to the likes of the focals and rainbows an the morels where ever worsethan the CDT... the focals need a tab bit of eq because there sharp th cdts where pretty neutral and the morels just left alot of be desired..
