to find the box volume do you measure the interior dimensions or the exterior?? cause from the interior i got 10.8ft^3 and when i measured from the exterior i got 12.9ft^3. that little mistake seems to make a big difference.

Interior volume will be the only useful number for you.

you measure the interior since by measuring the outside you are taking into account the thickness of the wood. You could also just measure the outside but make sure to take into account the size of the wood before you do the math.
