I have been looking to buy a new head unit and am considering the pioneer DEH-2000MP, DEH-P3000IB. I was testing them at circuit city and found that the next button ALWAYS takes you to the sequentially next track EVEN if the shuffle/random is ON. I noticed this with both WMA discs as well as MP3 discs and was quite disappointed. My guess is that the shuffle works only if you let the song play and finish itself and proceed to a new random track - is that true?? That would be VERY disappointing!

You have a set budget for a HU? those are pretty much the lowest end pioneers.

some lower end HU's use sh!tty algorithms that dont allow them to shuffle any songs after a certain number (in my experience the number was 300) so it ****** for MP3 cd's hardcore

Yeah, my older alpine got stolen recently and I just want a no frills but good player. I also may not keep the car for very long, and would prefer to limit to about $200... :(
