Well im looking to get one of these here soon and just want a quick answer.

i know the 9887 doesnt have the Bass/treble feature unless you get the imprint module (or so im told). but that the 9886 does.

so which one?

What are your intentions for your system?

Are you going active? If not get the 9886 and save a few bucks.

i already have an active system.. well what i think is an active system.. my speakers and subs are both powered through amps. 1000/1 for the w7's and gm-5300T's for type-r comps and 2 ways.

Looking for a good quality deck that will give me good SQ (from alpine) and i like the visual features of the 9887.

what if i run the 9887 on a non active system? would the 880prs be a better choice?

well i have a used 9887 if u interested. I've used the 9886 before, SQ aren't that great, only good thing is you have USB inputs.

What i would do with the 9886 is buying a PXA H100 kit and make it becomes a 9887.

However the 9887 already got the chip 24 bit chip build in , but no USB inputs, and you have to buy a ipod cable.

Overall i just gonna burn MP3 to Cds anyway so i'd say go for 9887 if you dont' need USB inputs. Another thing about 9887 i s u can change colors on the button which is pretty cool :D

I put the 9886 in a while ago and have loved it since, can't top the usb hook-up either. Just a couple controls that I wish were different, other than that...it's a top notch unit :)

well the shop im looking to get the 87 from includes the ipod hookup with the 87. And thats the only thing i need to plug in. I dont plan on getting anything like the navigation stuff or bluetooth or anything that would require a usb input.
