be prepared to wait and wait and wait in line before its your turn. it can get verrrry hot even as a spectator. i havent competed yet, but i would dread the wait in line to get metered.

I do plan on going, i dont have enough to make it worth competing and dealing with the hotnessss, my ish is built for daily :crap:

1 18" is 254 sq" would place him in featherweight

flyweight= 0-160 (no walls)
featherweight 161-260 (no walls)
lightweight 261+ (no walls)
middleweight 0- 720
Heavyweight 720 +

Yeah. Bassboxing seems the best bang for your buck to. You get 4 runs. So 80 bucks for 4 times in the lane aint bad as compare to getting 2 runs then getting disqualified.

bassrace you could have a ton of runs if you tie

rules..

mic is on the dash like db drag

Qualification round. 30 sec average with any window open in order to hear the mids and highs unless u have external mids/highs u can leave the vehicle sealed up.

top 2 scores move on to finals

round 1 u run with the vehicle all sealed up for 30 sec average

round 2 u run with the one door open all the way for 30 sec average

round 3 u run with both doors open all the way for 30 sec average

average of all 3 rounds is the winner.

have to use a commercially available cd. has to be clean no foul language.

that maybe but how do they expect people to recharge batts after their runs? most have gas generators or leave their cars/vans running. to many people walking around with kids to have that many cars moving around in such a tight space to. if thats how they are doing it i bet it will be rethought next year.

Vehicles aren't allowed to be on.

People have to use battery chargers to keep their batteries charged. SBN has power drops but you have to pay for power. Basically everything has changed.

This is the first year that EVERYTHING will be indoors, so I guess nobody really knows how it's going to work out.

The one thing I'm most disappointed about is there is no more bassboxing at the bandshell. :( That's one of the highlights of SBN and it got killed off.

This is happening at EVERY big show thats out there. There just no money and no return on investment for spending tons of money to have booths at these shows.

Low competitor turnouts and low spectator turnouts.

the people running the show have not changed..
they are the same people since day one..

as for the other stuff you mentioned, its unfortunate but there has been quite the decrease of manufacturer support and so forth. But that is not the fault of the show or promoters, its simply the way business is nowadays.

ive been to plenty of indoor car shows and people ALWAYS play their stereo, even though they STRICTLY tell you to dis connect your batteries. people still play their stuff. its bound to happen

jracer demo'd his van last year and they were apparently b*tchin about it. but it was one of the highlights to the inside of the show last year. outside people were playing loud all day of course

From what I was told by some people, all cars go inside on Friday, there is a competitor meeting, and all cars remain inside until Sunday after the show. I was also told that if you demo, run your car inside when not supposed to, demo loud enough to distract the show, or drive your vehicle inside the OC, you will be DQed, asked to leave, and cant get your car out until Sunday after the show.

As for power, you have to leave your car off, and BUY power from the OC. I was told it costs anywhere from $75-$100 on top of the fees to enter the competition. Anyone who has a big enough system would drain way too much juice to recharge in between runs, even if demoing was allowed.

When it comes to companies Rockford isnt going, Fi isnt going, and Kicker isnt even bringing its Semi outside the OC. So many of the companies that were the backbone of the manufacturer show just stopped supporting the show. Its a shame too, because this year SBN is ACTUALLY during Spring break.

All I know is that doesnt sound like a show that I want to spend hundreds of dollars that I dont have to compete in.

they ask on the pre registraction if you want to keep the vehicle or not ...nothing says you have to keep it there ...its your choice ...

It ask if you are gonna need to leave the building. I would assume meaning that if you need to leave and use your car to go somewhere or something.

No. The doors are getting even worse.

With just the new door mock ups on (build of all 1/2" MDF) the doors were already sagging so much that it was bulging the fender when the door opens and closes. So when there is 60lbs of mids/highs and actual door pods on each door, and roughly 160db @ 30hz beating them ******* retarded, they are going to flat out fall off.

I dont even know how the thing will be driven anymore. :crap:

I dont like playing my van sealed up. It scares me. The **** side windows will blow out of the frames. It happened driving down the road. Stupid window blew off the track and I had to grab it before it completely fell out of the car.

Hopefully will be close to 160, if not maybe a little more. Was already doing a mid 157 with the batteries dropping to 10-10.5v and amps shutting off. Theres a couple other things that should boost score too.

And yes, VJ is gay. He fails at life, car audio, and everything else he attempts.

what about putting the speakers behind you on the front side of the wall? might not sound as nice but it will still be loud and it saves your doors?

There will be some on the wall eventually. Up to now, the only speakers I had were 2 Eminence 6s and 2 Powerbass coaxials in the trim pannels on the wall. All the speakers going in will be in the doors and center console, with the whole wall left open for more down the road. Right now each door will have 3 10s, 2 6s, and 3 tweeters. Wont have all the mids/highs in for Daytona, but still a good amount.

Other day I bought 8 Eminence Delta 10s, 8 Eminence Alpha 6s, and 16 Selenium ST350s. Will be running 5 amps on those for now. Down the road Ill probably add something like 12 Eminence Alpha 8s, 4 Eminence Delta 12s/15s, and like 8 more Selenium ST350s. Maybe out back run something like 8 Eminence Beta 8 coaxials with 8 of the Eminence APT tweeters in the Betas. Im lookin for some CRAZY highs. If I did all that, it would be a total of:

8 Delta 10s
8 Alpha 6s
24 Selenium ST350s
12 Alpha 8s
4 Delta 15s
8 Beta 8s
8 Eminence APTs

That would be 72 mids and highs.... But plans change a million times before they are actually put into motion. Also having no money doesnt help either.

All that will be down the road... And probably not anything that crazy. Just imagining what I could do if I wanted. Will probably be adding some 6.5s and maybe a couple 10s or 12s onto the wall down the road and some music out on the amprack.

Wish I could say it would be, but there is a 90% chance my van wont be finished by Daytona. Even though Im not competing, it would be cool to have it there, but theres just too much to do. I cancelled my room for Friday night as well... Heading down Saturday morning, staying Saturday night, then heading back Sunday after the show.

can't wait for this weekend!

ill be down there friday night. not gonna have any bass :(... i could throw my hd3 15" in there, but it will look like hell without the box covered and wires everywhere.

workin on the doors now, but probably will be half done by the weekend lol... nothings going to be pretty this weekend in my truck

i got 6 mids in the pass door today, and they are muchhhh clearer than the Dayton PA165's, not a whole lot louder though. 2 6.5" daytons are keeping up with 6 5" mids pretty well lol, i was surprised. but they sound much worse lol. these are the Volcano Audio mids that Slapmaster is putting in his van... they are loud and clear.
