Clarion. You'll be surprised at the SQ out of their units. Really quite nice. That's my pick.

I've owned several kenwood hu's. Every one has been really good, so I'm going to have to say go with the kenwood.

wow lots of mixed reviews i really dont mind what they look like what i like bout the clarion is that the volume knob isnt one of the ones that goes up and side to side and **** i hate that but clarion also with the 6 volt preouts is higher than the kenwood 4

The Clarion might not have the better, smoother look, but between the Clarions and Kenwoods I've heard (which I can't say have been a whole lot, but a few), the Clarions have sounded better and have lasted. I had a CD player quite working on a Kenwood.

Some don't some do. That one does. The one's I've used, I've made sure they do.

I've owed 8 kenwoods hu's over the years. I had one that the cd player quit working, and another that had a flip down face that I hit with the gear shift on accident. Other than that, the other ones I got rid of just to upgrade.

I have had both. I think both bring some pretty high quality to the table. You won't really lose with either, but name brand only, i go with Clarion.

jvc ar7500... end the game guys its the best unit ive ever messed with... 5v preouts, 7 band eq, 12 curve, accepts sd cards, no buzz like my premier, and a 256 color screen... you cant beat that for 180 shipped on ebay :)

Both produce some solid Headunits. I am running Kenwood right now, but have always enjoyed my buddies Clarion HU. Has had one going on 9 years now and still works like it did day one.

I bought the Kenwood a little over a month ago and can honestly say it has great SQ but i'm getting an x100 this weekend :D so pm me if you're interested in getting the x492 at a lower price.
