Anyone have any recommendations for a radar/laser detector what will work effectivly and can easily be installed for stealth. got a ticket today but it was so easily avoidable... just not paying enough attention.

links to installs are great.

I just installed the Beltronics (BEL) Vector LR Remote, and love it! MSRP $600, but I found it NIB on eBay for $120. Cant say enough about it. Great little unit!

if you want a cheaper solution that is portable go for the v1 or high end escort
if you want a real stealth solution and can pay over a grand then go for the k40 and a laser jammer

instead of using radar dectors why not just get a scrambler/jammer so they cant clock u anyway and have it on a toggle switch because in some states they are illegal so if u get pulled over u can turn it off and say u dont ahve one

Radar jammers are illegal in all 50 states. The only frequency you can legally jam/scramble is laser. This is because laser is governed by the FDA whereas radar (X, K, Ka) are governed by the FCC. Jamming radar (if you can actually find one that works worth a flip to begin with) will get you a pretty hefty fine and possibly some jail time.

The directional arrows are priceless to determine the thread potential of a warning signal, especially in urban settings.

so if you can find one that will jam those bands then you cant get a ticket, but thats why u have it on a toggle switch to turn off if the cop pulls you over and say no i dont have a radar dector or jammer if he ask and then when he radars your car again you have it turned off and he will think his gun jammed haha

For those suggesting radar jammers I would suggest NOT. I work on radar jammers for F16's and A10's , and yes they are on a different scale but any type of radar jammer/scrambler emmits harmful RF radation that can cause cataracts and heating of internal body tissues. Not to mention its HIGHLY illegal, not just state but on the federal level.

Radar detectors are one thing, jammers are a no-no.

so is it bad for the pilots to? If so, how can they subject them to that without repercussion?

Yeah that's quite an interesting statement.
I am also looking for a good stealth install idea for a honda prelude...
i like that one in the pic...wouldn't fit on my headliner but cool.
what kind is that where the detector has a remote out for a second display of what's happening?
I have seen a few stealth installs on ferraris and lambo's...on tv. I wanna say they were stock options, the display was just a few lights in the gauge cluster, it was awesome.

just a point, but if they do there job why would it need to be a stealth radar detector.

If you look at A-10's or F-16's the torpedo looking device is mounted on the right wing far away from the cockpit ;) .

hmmmm.....so maybe a radar jammer in the grill of a vehicle ...:D

because with the gps, i get tired of having crap mounted to my windshield.
Furthermore, I like the idea of keeping as much as I can looking "oem" in my car, so a stealth install with the information display in my gauge cluster, would look "semi" factory. That is the point.
Also, people steal radar detectors around here, they break into cars for them.
I don'twant smashed glass for a piece of plastic that is already bugging me for sticking out on my windshield.

I have a Cobra, the $98 one from wal-mart and it works quite well, picks up laser, Spectre, and VG2 quite well, on top of the obvious X, K, and Ka.

the Cobras seem to pick up well...I have the remote version..with GPS in my Saleen...and another nice windshield mount in my Jeep....both perform very well....

all the jammers i was looking at have the little jammers to mount on the frame of each side of the vehicle front back and sides and it has the main jammer and the receiver that tells you wat band is being read and jammed inside the vehicle but you can put it w/e you want to not worry bout the radation

there is something about having to worry about radiation that makes me feel funny inside..almost like i would rather go the speed limit than get radiated lol
almost...

if you want a stealthy install just sit it up on your dash ( DO NOT MOUNT) and it goes off and your getting pulled over already just pull it off and slide it under the seat :D

but if you want a cool one where it can stay mounted. mount it in one spot and then make it when you can flip it upside down so itll tuck away in the dash and then you can hit a button and it comes back up. BTW i just thought that last part up. so i might actually try that and tell u how it goes
